FT Stiffness VS Tecnica

QUESTION FOR BOOT EXPERTS

Looking at new boots...

Rode the Tecnica Inferno Blaze 110 and the Inferno Race130 this week...

Liked the Inferno Blaze, good boot, good fit, a little soft for me.

Liked the 130 too - good fit, a bit more forgiving, definitely kicks me into the backseat on hard snow...

I only freeride and jib...lots of big turns and lots of switch riding and small airs, I ski fast - mostly a powder and soft/fresh snow skier, love steeps and not much else.

Also considering the Full Tilt First Chair and Konflict...I'm a 25.5 so the last is the same as the tecnicas (97mm on the 25.5)

I've talked to numerous bootfitters...issue is that I can't try on the Full Tilts without ordering because nobody has a 25.5 in stock, so if I want them I have to order them.

So, without wasting more of your time, what does the full tilt flex rating equate to in Tecnina stiffness?

Konflict @ 8 = ?

First Chair @ 10 = ?

i haven't tried on the specific tecnica boots you're talking about, so this isn't a direct comparison, but the tecnica cochise felt slightly stiffer to me than my konflicts did. i'm in a lange rx130 lv right now, which feels a lot more comparable to the to cochise than it does the konflict. the nice thing about full tilts though is, if you don't like the flex, you can just drop $30 or so and get a different tongue. in fact, if you end up in the konflict and find them too soft, i've got a friend who has a set of tongues from last year's seths that he's probably willing to get unload cheap. hope that helps!

The original fulltilt shell has a 99 last, not a 97. Not sure if that will affect your choice, but thought you should know.

10 is stiff, I'd compare it to your stiffest normal boot. I use the 10 for big mountain and charging. I also have some 8s, I find it a lot softer than an 8. So I use that for park skiing. I have the First Chairs, and love them. With the 10, I'm barely able to fold it with my hands, where as the 8, I can get it to fold a lot more.

The 25.5 size has a 97 last according to Surefoot.

And also if you can, go find and original 3 peice full tilt boot in your size, try it. And then if it fits, hold out to next season, when the First Chair will have the new toe box and replaceable rubber sole. I'm most likely replacing mine with the updated First Chair next tear

surefoot has been known to spew garbage in the past. i can't verify either way, but i've definitely never seen full tilts listed anywhere, ever, as being 97mm, and my langes, which are 97mm, feel much, much snugger, even with a roomier toe box, than my konflicts did. that's actually the reason i got rid of the konflicts; i couldn't get them snug enough in the heel pocket.

Good to know - the reason I've been leaning toward the tecnicas is b/c i barely even have a heel - they don;t even make socks tight enough for me haha!

Speaking about boot width, they measure 275 boot width. So it should be, if FT say 99width, its for 275 boot. Higher size will be wider.
It's probably
285 - 100
295 - 101
305 - 102

Or can be even 2mm wider than size below. Got my morrisons widened at boot fitters.

And 130 should be like flex 8.

Week ago was checking some old nordicas, which claimed to be 150 flex (girl races SL). Morrisons were way stiffer.

get the 130s, i just got B tongues to replace the C tonghues i had (dallbelo krypton rampage) and they are stiffer but i could easily go even stiffer, bootfitter told me the flex wasnt really relative to the normal system but the B tongue said "race" on it :p
