I'll start by telling everyone to clear your calender for Jan 27-29th.
So, every year I put up a thread a few weeks before Winter Carnival here in Rossland to remind everyone in the area about "The Game" Rail Jam that goes down every year. For those that are in the know - GET STOKED, and for those new to the area. Winter Carnival is by far the most fun you can have in one weekend in a mountain town. Amazing vibe, amazing events, good music, and some other stuff that probably shouldn't be discussed on a public forum.
Open Jam on Friday night
Actual Competition Saturday late morning till dusk
Again, for those who aren't in the know, every year Rossland closes one of the streets downtown for the weekend and turns it into a jib park, and a beer garden at the bottom for those who have been alive for the required amount of years.
Also, I just learned the Whitewater is holding a Jr. Big Mountain Comp that same weekend. It always bugs me when Nelson double books the weekend of Rossland's Winter Carnival. I think a few years ago Tibute held a rail jam in town the same weekend as Winter Carnival... what are they trying to prove? Why make people choose one or the other? There's plenty of other weekends to hold your competition. Whatever. I'm not telling "you" kids to not go to the competition at Whitewater - but I am saying that if that's what you choose, you will be missing out on a very fun weekend in Rossland. although - $60 entry fee is pretty cheep for a Freeski Comp.
STOKED!
