also, you're not going to get anything really good for free. you're going to get something VERY basic, but very easy to use. anything on the level of finalcut or vegas is going to cost a LOT of money and has a very steep learning curve to do anything out of the ordinary. same goes for photo editors. with the standard being photoshop, which is kind of easy to use if you want to do just the basics, but still VERY expensive.

yeah triple post, fuck with me. a good video editor for relatively cheap would be adobe premier elements, and a good photo editor for relatively cheap would be photoshop elements. i'm pretty sure you can get them in a bundle for like two hundred bucks.

i'm not going to argue with you and turn this thread into a huge shitstorm on torrents and piracy, but i am going to say this. there are absolutely zero people who actually take photography, film making, or music seriously who pirated their software.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure some big pros on here like Evan Heath have torrented their editing programs or at least have recommended it, and so anyone who has torrented doesnt take those things seriously? Mike Blatt has torrented premiere pro, watch his videos they're very good....boom.

fine, correction. most people haven't torrented their shit. it's simply easier to but it the legit way, because then if you have any problems with it, it's easier to get help. also, there's a chance that people may torrent the software, but have a real code, whether they bought it from someone or had one laying around but not the discs, which is totally legit.

like it was said above, you wont get something good for free, unless you torrent it. If you dont want to torrent i dont think youll find what youre looking for. If you do feel fine torrenting then i recommend premiere pro cs5.5

I didn't torrent my stuff, but I also didn't pay for it, but I also work for companies that own the programs. Either way, people that buy nice editing programs are usually professionals and they include these programs in their budgets. As for young filmers like the OP and probably 90% of the people on NS, we can't afford $1000 dollar studio for a hobby so its nbd to acquire it.
