I love newschoolers! Its been fun, I am going to serve a religious mission for the LDS church in Bangalore, India. No snow there, but oh well should be a great experience. I guess I am just saying thank you for all the laughs, the late nights, advice and the whole community here on newschoolers.
Ill have to get some recap of the last two years when I get back. Hope the world hasn't ended. Bye NS.
dont want to turn this thread into an anti-lsd thing, but i want to show my "story".
i live in austria. here jehovahs witnesses are almost literally annoying with their whole missionary thing. BUT I HAVE YET TO SEE ONE TRYING TO CONVERT ME.
WHAT I HAVE SEEN THOUGH and experienced is that someone like OP/you went up to me during a 5-minute bus ride and gave me some sort of invitation to a weekly information thingy. there were also information stands and shit i passed by a few days during summer on my way to university.
so while it didnt affect me really, i just plain and simple hate the fact that some western, christian organisation would undertake such concentrated converting efforts. not in middle europe, not in eastern europe, not in asia or africa.
i know you dont hurt people and shit, but i thought we as a civilization were over this whole "missionary" thing.
OP Im going on my mission in a year, haha I have fixed everything in my life, and never been happier! Go change the lives of others my man! ps The fact that NS is really cool about this all is so awesome! shout out to El Gato!!! and ghetothug... You can go get deep throated by one of your pistol slinging man friends.
I agree with ghettothug but perhaps in a more sensitive way. If mormons want to waste 2 years of their lives converting people to LDS, then whatever, its their choice. I agree with the fact that ghettothug brings up that the age the LDS church sends people on missions is the prime of your life, my 18-20 age time was the BEST, i doubt ill ever have the same careless, irresponsible, "free" time in my life again. Not saying my life now isnt great, i really enjoy my life, but im older now and have a shit ton of responsibility. I think what the LDS church, hell even most religions do has a point and place in society, but i think its stupid for kids to be sent off right after they graduate high school to spread their word for their evangelical church leaders.
Yes, SOME people get to go to pretty cool places for their missions, but some just go to ghetto ass areas of cities in the USA. I feel like the people who actually go to cool places are very lucky. So OP, embrace the culture you go to, i don't support what you're doing but at least you get a 2 year experience in a different area of the world, a lot of people dont even leave their home state.
