Salomon SPK Pro

How does the Salomon SPK Pro hold up as a big mountain boot? I know it's technically a park boot, but in some of the reviews they mentioned that it would make a good all mountain boot. Is this true?

i have em. used em at big sky today on everything. had a couple park runs but mainly used them for some powder and going through trees and what not. i didnt have any issues or complaints with them and they're the most comfortable boot i've worn.

sorry for the double post but yes, the flex index is 110 so if you are under 165-170 you could drive them in most conditions.

they worked fine for me but i wasnt doing any like insane drops or anything. and i'm 5'10 165 for reference.

Yeah I'm 6'1" and 160 so I doubt there should be a problem with skiing a 110 flex boot. I still just don't trust the whole 2 buckle thing. And yeah they fit my foot.

the two buckle system woks just fine. on the spk the buckles are really wide compared to the buckles on four buckle boots. with that said, the two buckles apply support over the same areas as the four buckle systems. if that makes sense?

Ghosts have 2 buckles and are one of the top big mountain freeride boots

Im 5'11 and 170lbs and they work pretty well for me for big mountain. I faniced mine a bit stiffer so I drilled out 2 wholes in the cuff and bolted them, I know have the option of the 110 flex without the bolts or about 130 with the bolts. I also got foam injection liners which stiffened them slightly. Overall I love the boots, the goo toe is a god send and the gel heel and soft spoiler are so comfy.

Depends on how big you are and what you are used to skiing in. If you only weigh 120 pounds and are used to a 90 flex boot then they will probably be too stiff even for charging steep lines. But if you are 180 pounds and used to a 130 flex boot, then they will probably be too soft for charging steep lines.

Selecting the right fit and flex has nothing really to do with whether you ski park or all mountain or big mountain- it has everything to do with what fits your subjective biomechanical needs and what you are used to using.

i havent had any shinbang at all in mine.

they're awesome boots. if they fit your feet right and you can get em, i'd get em.
