Shin bang is primarily caused by having a boot that does not fit you correctly and/or without footbeds.
The right footbed
Boot that is the right size
Boot that is the right width/volume
Boot that is not too stiff
Boot that is not too soft
Cuff needs to match your leg shape (no gap between your tongue & shin, and is not too low on your leg)
Don't land backseat (easier said than done sometimes but it will help)
It doesn't matter if the boot is a "race" boot or "freeride" boot or "freestyle" boot- the most important thing is that it fits you correctly and you also buy a supportive footbed.
