Park Skiers who don't try

I've only been skiing park for two seasons so far but I've noticed there's just a certain group of people who go out and buy the nicest freeskiing gear and all they do once they get to the park is ski right past the rails and do straight airs off the jumps, not even attempting a trick, and this is all they do the whole day. Now I'm not a pro by any means, but i at least try (and fall many times in the process) to get better at park skiing. Idk why I'm ranting, what do you guys think of these people?

Well, not everyone doing straightairs are richkid posers you know. Sometimes it's fun to just fool around and do some oldschool stuff. An injury is also a reason for why someone might be straightairing. When my shoulder injury was fresh, bailing was not an option at all, so I was doing alot of straightairs, or maybe some mellow 3's at best.

But there is alot of kids with fancy gear that don't even try at all, thats true, but so what? Having the industry make money is something that benefits us all. Just let everyone shred the way they want, as long as they're not fucking shit up for everyone else.

Yep. The rich kids who buy tons of expensive gear at full retail are the ones putting money in to the industry. Without them those skiers who shred, couldn't get the proform deals and sponsorships which allow them to keep on skiing.

this. like or not, skiings a pretty fragile industry, its the familys, the middle aged cruisers and the gapers (as well as all of us) who keep the whole thing alive (by buying gear, lift passes, accomodation in resorts etc.), for those of us who are passionate about it. LONG LIVE THE GAPERS

straight airs are fun, especially off bigger kickers. you can actually see and feel how high in the air you are. its quite the rush. whereas spinning above a 3 like 7's or 9's you are more focussed on the spin and not just the feeling of flying through the air. thats how i feel about it all

well for me, I am not as young as I used to be...29. I can't risk getting hurt and miss work for an extended period of time. Its a lot different when your younger and have no responsibilities. Back in my teens and early 20's I would shred 10 times as hard as I do now. Phhh....the little amount of skiing I get to do each year due to my demographic location, and work..I am happy with just being able to do straight airs off of big kickers, and doing 360's off of smaller stuff. I don't have the luxury of skiing 50+ times a year at this point in my life. I wish I did.

some are pussies, some are stoned off their balls, and some may be injured/coming back from a previous injury. coming back from surgery, I have to take it very easy on skis, and I feel like a pussy bitch 99% of the time because I don't hit jumps or rails, but I have to live with it, since I cant afford to tear my ACL again.

To me if you're going for tricks even if it's just 3s and 2 outs then you're legit. If you just sit around and try to look cool then I hate you because it's a bitch to have to maneuver around you to do hot laps.

Who cares man. Only time I would even get remotely mad is if they they go off the side of lips causing them to get deformed, or if they go so slow into a feature that it messes up the flow of the park. Otherwise they don't affect you in anyway.

I probably look like one of these people by the end of the day. When you take so many falls throughout the day, those last few runs are always brutal. I often find myself skipping some features and only hitting the ones that I know I have no chance of falling on, because I know that next fall could for sure mean the end of the day.

For me, skiing isnt always about progressing. I do whatever I find the most fun on that run, that day, or that feature. If Im not having a jump day, Ill just do shifties. If i fell like going fast, Ill just bomb off all the knuckles.

That being said, there are times when progressing and doing cool tricks is the most fun thing to do.
