TOO MUCH SLOMO

Is anyone else sick of edits with continuous slomos? Slowing clips down often does make tricks look way more stylish, but at some point it gets ridiculous. I would much rather watch some real time footage than the 50% speed everyone seems to be editing at.

100% agree, ever since kids have been getting their hands on t2is/7ds theyve just been shooting in 60 and conforming to 24 for every fucking shot, it gets mad old. At least i did it when it was still cool *insert hipster kitty*.

I absolutely hate how at the end of any slowmo banger, there is all that super low pitched drawn out grunting from the filmers and people watching. It always sounds exactly the same and is mad annoying.

And slow mo got really old during the Bobby Brown triple cork 14...so fucking slow..like really you can't even tell what he is doing it is so slow.

Slowmo in Nothing Else Matters was pretty sick, but that's the first time I've actually enjoyed a slowmo section for aages - full speed looks incredible.

lol no frame rate has nothing to do with quality. the motion from 60p to 24p is very different thought, but 24p/30p looks alot better than 60p IMO. CONFORMING (not converting) to 24p from 60fps makes very smooth very slow motion (40%).

Slow mo is just another aspect of filming. As with everything else, you need to use moderation. Any tool you overuse will and up hurting your work. If you make your intro too long, it won't be good. If you mess with your colors too much, it will start to look worse. Just don't overuse it! It's simple!

It completely depends on the song/mood of the video. If you keep it balanced and apply it to the right clips at the right time it can look very good.

Slomo is way easier to use, but I've been working on editing with more 100% footage myself lately. Edits are sorta like writing in this way. A better edit will be able to get the same thing across in a shorter timeline. Slomo will take up a lot of time and result in 5:00 minute edits. These put the viewer to sleep when they could have been 3:00 minutes long and far more interesting. Every time you use slomo, it gets less interesting.

well actually i love to conform my 60fps --> 24fps and then use twixtor. I absolutely love to make a shitty, totally fake, and ugly picture that totally resembles phantom cam. people are just stupid and dont realize that a gopro is just as good as a phantom for slowmo when used with twixtor.
