I think most of newschoolers has been convinced that shells are the only way to go, cause thats what most of the "cool" jackets are (saga, ldc, most of oakley etc.). But I'm totally on the hunt for a nice down that isn't the bdog, dis just dont match me pants.

Probably true, see I like a shell for warm days, but when its cold nothing can beat a puffy. I have the same problem, doesn't match any of my pants!
