Front flip help: Where do I put my hands when I throw?
I've seen some of the front flip threads but haven't got an answer on this question particularly. Right before I throw, should my hands be above my head or more out in front of me at body level? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Glued to my hips, off small stuff.
I feel like it's better to rotate around your midsection rather than... anything else. Still throw them down when going off the lip, for that forwards momentum, but keep them there.
Although, not sure if you should be worried or thinking about the arms. Just do it off something small-ish and safe, and you'll have it down in no time.
but i didn't pop forward enough in that video. you need to pop forward then tuck. i wanna learn supermans so my frontflips look cleaner. if someone could give me a couple examples of frontflips without throwning they're hands, please show me.
If you put your hands out to the side like your flying an airplane and come into the jump with a half-pizza, people will think you're the sickest retrasado on the mountain.
well i kinda have them right to the sides of my helmet and throw them down. i guess it depends on the size of the jump though, but i have never done one over 25-30 ft so i cant really say for big kickers
when i do em, i start with hand next to my head, then throw em down to my hips and tuck
or on bigger jumps just near your hips will do, no need for throwing hard with your hands if you have the airtime to simply tuck to bring the flip around....
when learning, put em over ur head, then throw down and grab ur knees in a tuck. when u can flick like simon dumont, just have ur arms chillin down low, and kinda push them out to the side as u roll into the flip
You dont set your rotation with your arms so you can detach them if you want.
If you cant detach then I would recommend throwing them forward on jumps where you dont have to huck. On huck-frontflips I recommend hips or infront of stomach.
Your hand are never supposed to go over your head.
if you a boss claim every fronflip during the whole rotation
otherwise keep it mellow and naturally let your arms rest by your side and pop out with your shoulders, core, and knees... not by holding your hand up and throwing downward
