By Hacks, most people mean third-party software for the Mac/PC/iPod that allows you to do things that iTunes doesn't.Like say, have the King James Bible on your iPod. Or upload News at every sync, or e-mail stored on your iPod. Stuff like that.

By Mods, most people mean physically changing something about the iPod. LCD changes, Longer lasting Batteries...

there was one thing i found before but i cant find it now. it involved changing something on the pod and instead of it showing a battery and a half battery at half life it showed a number out of 500 (500 being fulled charged and 0 meaning dead). now that would be a very nifty idea to know when ur pods going to die out. anyone know how this works?

the battery meter thing is the voltage - 500 is fully charged and 200 (not 0) is when it will tell you to recharge. the reason it's soo is cause it shortens battery life a lot if you run the battery all the way down. google eupod - there's a feature in that program that allows you to show the voltage.
