Women's Skiing.

Disclaimer: Rest assured, this is not another thread comparing women's skiing to men's. Women's skiing will always be behind men's. Always.

That said, women have to take their accomplishments for what they are. This past year there seemed to be (arguably) a lot of skiers (both men & women) discontent with the progression of women's skiing. So I am curious, what would you all like to see from girls this next season? In all aspects of the sport, from competition to film segments, park to big mountain, etc.

Pipe seemed pretty good this year. I saw a lot of 1080 attempts and some shaky landed ones at comps this year. I'm hoping next year 1080s get stomped. I'm also digging the flare to opposite flare some competitors do mid run.

yeah lets all be thankful womens pipe right now is better than snowboard womens pipe. and maude is definitely leading the charge in terms of style so if more women would start developing their styles the way maude has, women's skiing will improve a ton.

they should be throwing the basic dubs and sw 10s in comps.. anything less should not be professional, and is a poor representation of our sport on an olympic level.

Or, we could have stomped stylish tricks as a good representation of our sport. Like I said, most athletes will have 1080s dialed by next year. By the olympics we may have a dub or two but I'm hoping mostly for stylish 10/sw10.

Maude isn't just good because of talent though she's actually pretty legit fearless and will try anything... that kind of style doesn't just happen.

Well yea that's the problem. If you are a pro skier, then you should be "risking" yourself. I'm tired of seeing reg 5's still being thrown in competitions; there is no reason why they are so far behind mens.

I agree. And since slope and pipe are in the olympics now, There is no reason to why they shouldn't be progressing in the next 3 years.

So true, the problem is, i'm not afraid to get hurt, but I always do, and always end up with an injury thats ie preventing me from skiing, ill be back as soon as possible tho everytime, but girls just get hurt easier I guess, and it sucks, everytime I try to go bigger end up with an injury.

More or less I'd just like to see more women skiers, more skiers that represent well anyways.. We don't need any more Barbies who can't get on the lift. I'd also love to see more women in the park. Can't get better if you don't put yourself out there.

I don't disagree that girls get hurt easier than guys, but I think it's preventable to some degree. I mean there's lots more guys in the weight room and training to prevent injuries than girls. At least around me. I could be wrong.

This is true, but I go to the gym twice a week, and wear as most protection during skiing as possible, if its preventable I will prevent it..

personal opinion here but i feel like girls get hurt more because they pussy out because a lot of them are afraid of looking "stupid" etc. Commitment is key imo. I'm in the gym 5 days a week and go to physio for bad knees, but none of my injuries on the hill have been bad enough I had to stop skiing which i credit to that, mind you concussions are the exception.
If there are park girls anyone should look up to it's Maude, Gunning and Battersby. They've got mad steeze and technique, I would kill to shred with them anyday.

are you kidding, womens soccer is the worst compared to mens. it's the sport where i see the biggest difference. female soccer gets so much shit here in norway.

Trying harder to get up to par, not pussying out of tricks and hitting the hard features.
I guess I just want to see progression, I feel the gap between mens and womens will probably never dissapear but it can certainly be made smaller.

girls just need to go balls to the wall. you cant be afraid of getting hurt if you want to get better. i like to ski with the boys because they push me harder. i'm not about to whine over some broken nail. really all that girls have to do is PUSH IT.
