Drum Sets

hey,

i know this really doesn't belong on a freeskiing site, or in the general section but there is a lack of good drum related info on the internet and nobody reads the music section. so, anybody who knows anything about drums if you can help me out, can u please. thanx

i'm renting a set of CB MX series drums right now, and they are absolute bullshit... worst 35$ a month EVER! i wanna buy a new drum set, something that i can upgrade as my skills develop. any suggestions? i've looked at pearl and tama because they were recommended to me by my drum instructor, but i don't know what kit to buy. i want a basic kit, preferrably with hardware included, at a reasonable price. by reasonable i mean not over like $1200. any help would be appreciated, thanks!

check classifieds in the paper, i bought a pearl that is pretty nice w/cymbals for really cheap, there are good deals. Pearls and mapex are nice or drum workshop but they are a bit spendy

check out yamaha. my school bought us an almost new set that was used for a Battle of the Bands comp for one day, then sold for half. Keep looking around, cause eventually something will show up.

get a yamaha stage custom. they are the basic sets and you can add stuff on all over the place and yamaha is a very trusted name. It starts as a 5 piece typical set and you can add on everything.There's the standard, fusion, advantage and i think they have an advantage fusion now. There's slight differences between all of them but best buy is the standard, I think 600 bucks. otherwise you should go with tama or maybe find a used pearl set, usually good buys for slightly used sets. usually cymbals aren't included when you buy new but get zildjians when you do get cymbals. zildjian k's ooh yeah. pm me if you have any other questions I'd be glad to help you out.

Go to a music shop like the guitar center. I used to have a place called Mars, and it was bigger than a Wal Mart, an the had so many drum sets, and they would let you play on them and stuff. Anyways, go to a shop and see what they have on clearance. You can see what you want there, and make a decision based on what you see. My parents got me a 1200 for half off, because it looks kinda ugly, but it's perfect. I also like sabian more than ziljan, but I think that's a personal preference.

or eBay. A friend of mine is selling his on eBay UK because he doesn't have space for them any more. He's getting an AKAI MPC sampler pad to replace them though, which works out a hell of a lot cheaper. He plays a lot of electronic stuff as well as rock/metal and he says it'll be awesome for each (DJ Shadow and Aphex Twin use it he says). Not the most convenient for rock, so if you're wanting to improve your skills it won't be the thing to go for, but if you just want to get creative then it would be good.

i got a pearl about 5 years ago as a 8 piece an i have kept upgrading as my skills got better and now im up to a 21 peice set.so i would recomend pearl

Just upgrade. First new cymbals then sheels, hardware, etc....
