DeebieSkeebieslol im down. This fuckin heat dont help either, oh my god I thought summer 2017 was brutal but its supposed to be 105 at like 8500' elevation. RIP SLC friends
Titus69Interested to see how going from 85-95 and humid in NH to 85-105 in SLC/PC is gonna be, not excited about either though, want winter back.

DeebieSkeebiesDude humidity is a entirely different and more brutal beast. Dry heat over 100 sucks but fucking 100+ with humidity is insane. Fuck that shit so hard.
Either one sucks and if you work outside this week, god bless ye.
.frenchyimagine how bad it is where i live, seriously miserable 85% of the year
Titus69Damn, where at? I get obvious work and finance reasons but I really wonder how people live their whole lives in areas with horribly gross and hot weather, after being in Utah I dont wanna even retire in new England, I love it but fuck I better at least have money for good AC.
.frenchy45 min south of Savannah, GA. 45 north of Jacksonville, FL
can't wait to get out of here and ski on a weekly basis, i leave in dec/january, i came from germany previously so at least the skiing around there was fucking amazing
Titus69Oh god, my coworker grew up in Atlanta and he told me how awful it is there, the transition from that shit to ski season will be nice, assuming you'll be skiing far away from there.
.frenchyYup, its Atlanta on steroids down here.
fuck yeah ill be back to shredding CT/VT (if I end up getting out)
-arc-I've been looking into McGill in Montreal, probably the best music school in Canada with fairly affordable tuition especially if I become a PR in Quebec, my tuition gets cut in half basically. So my idea is, finish up this year and first semester of next year (our school year is feb - oct roughly with a break in the middle), get set up living in Montreal to regain my residency and start my degree as soon as possible. I do have some second cousins who I've never met who live in Quebec who I could reach out to while getting acquainted but that could also fall through as most of my family lives in BC.
Side note, skiing is way better in Canada no doubt and I'd be able to go on better trips, for cheaper, more often. Also, apart from doing a year of French in highschool, how much do you think I'd need to know?
Cheers xoxo,
gossipgirl
nutz.Hey man, I went to McGill - the residency thing is retroactive (you can go to school first and build residency while you're there and you'll be paid back for it I believe for a certain number of months) - I have a few friends who did that (Americans at McGill who've never lived in Canada but had citizenship).
The skiing sucks near montreal, the best you're going to get is probably jay peak.
The guy who said you need zero french is kinda wrong. Quebec is different from all of the other provinces - in McGill and center of Montreal I had zero problems with not speaking french (some miscommunication) but it's definitely a french first province outside of the city center - (they have a language enforcement there where all stores have to have front facing people who speak both language) ultimately if you plan on staying in quebec, it's very beneficial to learn french - jobs open left and right when you know both (it's required in a good amount of jobs there). The school itself is 100% english though so you don't have to worry about that.
RparrThe ultimate evil has finally happened.
Vail bought my fucking home hil: http://news.vailresorts.com/corporate/peakresorts.htm
It's a really shitty 250ft vertical mountain but I live 5 minutes from it, and know everybody there. I still love the place. Now our season pass is probably going to cost 600$+ next year, and I'm going to have to drive an hour across town to the much cooler (and now the only non-corporate place in Ohio ) hill. We always used to joke that our hill was so shitty that we'd never have to worry about it being acquired by vail.
Fuck vail

Titus69Literally came to post about how my home mtn growing up got bought, the deals suppose to close in the fall, but yeah I'm not one to always say fuck Vail but in this case fuck them. My home mtn crotched season passes have been like $350 or something forever, and you'd get to ski all the other peak resort spots with it, and tickets to the tiny shithole were already pricey at like $70 or so, if they double I'm gonna be truly shocked. The only thing that helps me with this is when I come home for Christmas I can ski there and mt snow without worrying about tickets. I'm cool with the already expensive ski areas being bought, but it didnt seem like any of peak resorts locations were struggling, now all those fucking new Yorkers in jeans are gonna be skiing park city, breck, Vail when they're on vacation, fuck that's gonna suck.
RparrThey're going to honor passes already purchased for this year, but next year they're going to force everybody onto the epic pass. It's just bullshit to me because I have actually spent the last 2 years skiing almost entirely in Ohio, and have gotten more than enough skiing done. I realized I don't NEED to travel. So the fact that I can now visit 23946723427 other resorts means nothing to me. To me, my Ohio seasons just got twice as expensive.
There's a place 45 minutes south of me that I prefer skiing at anyways. And is now the only non-corporate location left in Ohio. And most importantly, their park is way better. Just sad that I'm effectively being forced down there next year since my home hill is 5 minutes from me. I asked on instagram what vail is going to do for our resort to justify our season pass price effectively doubling, and they deleted my comment within 2 minutes. Great to see vail already having such a positive effect on my home hill.
-arc-Thanks man that's some really valuable info, especially in the retroactive residency. That could save me literally thousands. Quick question though, how do you go about paying school fees in Canada? Do you get a student loan, pay upfront or is there a government scheme like they have in Australia for low interest student loans. Thanks dog!
Also, what's the price of living like for students. Will I struggle to get a part time job with my limited knowledge of French? And how much is passable? Thanks again.

Chubz.Did my first legit kickturn on a vert quarter pipe this weekend, was probably a foot away from the coping. Slowly but surely progressing on my skateboard. Hoping to drop in by the end of the summer but finally figuring things out is one of the most rewarding feelings.
Skating is so much fun
PeppermillRenoGot any clue if Granite Peak is hikable or is it buried in snow? Its the tallest mountain in Montana.
I want to take a road trip and visit a girl I met at a festival in North Dakota and then camp in Red Lodge 2-3 nights and hike it.
MinggBoyfriend wants a kid. I want a kid. But then I realize kids are adult things and freak out a little bit and I don’t think I want a kid just yet. Maybe in a year lol
Titus69You'll have a blast going to all the parks in SLC, theres one in Sandy and it's so damn fun, just gotta go at the right time.
Chubz.Cottonwood heights park is wicked. By the time I get out there I should be able to skrrt around everything fine, I’m a big fan of street skating but I got some homies out there that skate so it’ll be fun to be able to have a plethora of different parks available to go to within a 30 minute drive from sugarhouse
DeebieSkeebiesTheres some sweet parks around the valley but careful of the ones in super mormon areas. The little scooter kids and their parents overrun the parks on certain nights cuz its "family night" at the parks
oldmanskiJust bring some Rice Crispy treats to share with everyone and you will be golden!AHAHAHA

oldmanskiCool to see you guys want a kid! I just had a son last December, I have 2 older step children but just had my first one of my own and it is pretty damn cool.

DeebieSkeebiesWalking around the house is chill. A little painful, but chill.
Happy Mormon Pride Day everyone
oldmanskiGlad to hear you are up walking around!
Good old July 24th!! Avoid temple square!

MinggMy current work moto is “Bust ass, but don’t break back” meaning work hard but don’t kill yourself in the process. You can only do so much and it’s other people’s fault if they aren’t carrying their weight. Not doing that shit anymore lol
DeebieSkeebiesOur motto at the golf course was "safety 3rd" but entirely as a joke and now I don't find that joke oh so funny anymore after this whole injury debacle
