Oh man... freedom stuff. Anyone seen the film End of America? You can stream it on netflix. Excelent film about our  rights and their restrictions since the Patriot Act and 9/11. Also, did anyone notice that the FBI just got an expansion to their "assesment" of threats in the US? They now can surveil you and search your trash without a warrant, or better yet, without ANY evidence of wrongdoing to terrorism.

wooot #7 coloramado FTW anyways i think that assesing freedom in the US is a very dumb idea. i mean really i bet the difference from the "most free" and "least free" states is some shit like corporations cannot hire illegal aliens or dump pollution.

The Senate and the State Legislature need a major ehtics overhaul. Hopefully Cuomo follows thru with his promise and so far he is on the right path. He is standing up to the unions which is one thing the last 5 governors (his father included) were scared to do. But as long as Silver is the speaker of the house there will always be a wall of opposition.

so i went from 50 (new york) to 20 (utah). Yet besides gun laws I feel more repressed. New york has decriminalized marijuana, no restrictions besides age on alcohol.

I have heard of way more people having their rights violated in utah than in ny. For example, one of my friends was at a party that got busted, was driving so blow a .0, perfectly clean, and also didnt have any drugs on him. Then the cops brought in a giant pee test kit, and tested everyone. He got "possession by consumption" had to pay a bunch of court fees, and was on probation.

This seems to be a very opinionated article as far as what your definition of "freedom" is. Personally, utah would be rated much differently.

Id also like to point out that the most of the states that are supposedly less free in this study have a majority of democrats in the house+senate. Combined with the fact that this was published by George Mason University, who is known for leaning to the right....hard, makes me weary of the truthiness of the article.
