so there was an article in the post today about the well-known fact that vail has been on the market for a few months now. two final bids have been placed by buyout groups, one by the texas pacific group (owner of burger king, j. crew, and continental airlines) and the other by Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (owner of nabisco and other companies). no word on which bid will be accepted. analysts say that the buyer will most likely split up and sell off the company's assests individually.
this means no more 5 mountain passes.
just thought everyone should know. it's too early to determine how this will effect maintenance and construction of parks and terrain at vail-owned resorts.
