Why can't I land a cork 7, video included

alright, so today i went to a local gym for there open sesh and decided i'd start to dabble in off axis tricks. i've set a goal for myself to start doing corks next season, as i feel it will take my skiing to an exponentially higher level. i've never really done off axis tricks before, so i'm kinda just tossing myself around in the video. i'd like some pointers on how to properly set corks or an explanation as to why i'm not sticking them.
also, i'd like to know what the last two tricks are haha, i don't really know what i'm doing.



PS. i apologize for the dubstep. i didn't want to use the sound from the video and just put my Itunes library on shuffle and chose the first song.

You could try to throw your flip just a little harder and your spin and lit bit less. I would think it would balance it out.

your just kinda over rotatiing it because it looks like u really dont want to under rotate it, slow it down a little and spot your landing u should be good if u do that

it seems like you are setting for a 9 instead of a 7. maybe try getting just a bit more bounce.

also, how in shape are you? looks like you have it for the most part but your legs are just giving out.

i'm actually in pretty solid shape haha. i parallel squat 3-plates for 8 reps and i'm dead-lifting about 255.

and to set for a cork pretty much just punch like near your shoulder and around kinda if that makes sense

You seem to be rotating as you are landing. Try throwing a little harder and jumping higher. It will help you fall out of the rotation while you are still in the air and it will look a lot cleaner. Good work tho very solid you've pretty much got it!

Try just throwing non corked 7's. experiment with different grabs and tuck up a little more and theyll eventually start to cork on their own

the easiest way to learn cork 7s on a trampoline is to set a 3 so that you fall backwards and land on your back, thats how you set the spin. when you want to take it all the way around to your feet, just set it a bit harder and pull your feet in so that you flip all the way.

i agree. im not saying your not in shape, but you pretty much landem and then just crumple on impact. maybe your not ready for the tramp to come so fast because you cant spot it as early, but it looks like you got it down and maybe try to just stomp it and not fall over

as has been said, looks like it is partially just that you are overrotating a little. but it also looks like you aren't quite anticipating your landing. you probably could have stuck the first two if you'd been expecting it, they looked really good. i had a similar problem when i was first trying to land basic spins (360s) on skis; i wasn't comfortable enough with the spin to know what it was going to feel like when i landed and when i should get ready to land. once you keep trying them, you'll be able to gauge your position when youre in the air better and it will be easier to be prepared to absorb your landing so that even if youre off balance or have over rotated a little, you can still get it.

Can you cork 5? if not, try them first. Cork 7s will come naturally with progression. Try grabbing mute on it and that will send you cork.

how i learned was spin a normal 7, but i grabbed my knees and that set me off axis. Spin slower, after a while they become easier than spinning on axis

This. It's all about balance. Just keep practicing and you will eventually get it. It also helps to jump then set the trick rather than setting it off the tramp. Also, corks on tramps are very very different than doing them on snow. I can't cork 5 on a tramp, 7 comes around no matter what, but I can cork 5 on snow no problem.

Spot it. You should be able to focus on the landing for a good split second between the two 3's in the trick, the more you can keep your eyes on it the better you'll expect the landing.

yeah i'm starting to get it. there are points where i catch a glimpse of the tramp. i just really need to work on setting it in the air rather than off the tramp. thursday, i'll have an opportunity to jump on an olympic tramp so hopefully i can make some progress.

pretty much this. all you have to do is jump higher = more time, and spot your landing. your coming around to your feet pretty well but over rotating. with more time you will be able to spot your landing easier, open up for the landing (slow your spin down) and stomp the shit outta it. also, as said before, tricks on tramps/diving boards are completely different on snow. center of gravity is way different with the weight of skis & boots. BUT it really helps your air sense, vital to jumping.

yeah i just need more practice. i realize the tricks are set differently on snow and on the tramp, but it's a comfortability issue for me. the more i jump on the tramp, the more i become more comfortable and aware in the air, the better my skiing.

if u still want advice i wud say the problem is that u are hucking the trick way to hard and as a result u completly lose ur sense of balance. most of ur hucks are inconsistent and u are totally off balance while landing. to remedy this problem i wud try to get a lot more bounce on the tramp, and absolutly master progression tricks such as cork 5s and bios and all sorts of other spins which are easier. anyways man i hope i helped a bit and have fun!

oh and if u have access to a high diving spring board, they are amazing for trying tricks which requite alot of hangtime. if you take a huge bounce off a high dive you will not need to huck hard at all.

shape is not the issue, landing on the side is.

You're drifting, most likely due to you throwing your trick early and favoring your right leg while jumping. this is what causes you to land on the side and not set your trick, make sure when jumping you have a decent base with both feet under you at shoulder width. after that make sure you jump before unleashing your spin.

also might help if you go bigger so you dont have to huck so hard. going high on trampolines isn't really about jumping highest, it's about being able to load the springs and letting the tramp giving you the boost. this happens by pressuring the mat down when you land, the more downward pressure you put into the springs, the more they will spring you up.

spin a little later off the tramp. your setting and starting your spin while you're still on the ground and thats why you're drifting off to the side like that. instead, just jump up and then start throwing your cork when you're in the air.

like many other people have said, your legs look really weak. and how can you not be expecting the landing? you think you're just never gonna come down?

to me it honestly looks like trampoline isn't really your thing.

i read the thread and just because you can lift weights with your legs doesn't mean you're in shape. you don't come off as the athletic type, i'd stick to weight training. cork 7 is one of the easiest tricks to spot, so if you can't stomp that good luck progressing

your such a little fucking troll, but i honestly don't care because i'm going to keep feeding you. continue to tell me i'm not in shape, because when i parallel squat 315 with ease and the next day run 2 miles worth of suicides on a football field. you clearly know nothing about me, i played football and baseball for four years in high school, at the highest level of athletics in Massachusetts (with the exception of prep school). c'mon, keep telling me that i'm not in-shape, because i guarantee i'll out-run, out-lift, out-hit, out-throw, out-anything athletic you 8 days a week.

you clearly don't understand the fact that it was my first time trying corks, so i'm sorry i'm not sticking them like your butt buddy gab here, sorry man.

looks like you're setting a little early or leaning left on your takeoff. you travel a lot. might help a bit to throw the spin just a little later and then try to spot your takeoff.

easy to see what your doing wrong, i learned corks, mistys and rodeos with this:

POP MUCH MORE AND SPIN A LITTLE SLOWER. Tuck if needed.

Flips and spins are so much chiller and easier with more bounce.

yeah most responses have been spot on. all of this has been said by a few people, but your two biggest problems are you need to jump about twice as high, and set the rotation for your trick after your feet leave the tramp, you are drifting left because you are setting too early. First one was pretty solid as far as the axis and timing, just go higher and try to recognize where you are in the air so you can properly spot your landing.

cork 7's are ''hard'' on trampoline. you need to spin slow on cork 7, so i prefer cork 9's and up much more.

as everyone said, your going for cork 9 with too small bounce. you have sick trampoline there, why not and take huge bounces, you'll land everything easier.

First of all, remember that where your head is turned is where you are going to spin or flip. you are getting plenty of rotation, but you aren't corking out enough, so try looking back more when you first throw yourself. You will find that it'll be easier to spot your landing and stomp the trick. right now you're just guessing with your feet because you aren't off axis enough to see where you're going to land, so 9 times out of 10 they'll just slip out and you'll bomb the landing, I hope this helps!
