Switch Up

Dear all,

What is "Switch Up"? I need explanation because videos are so misleading to me.

Also what is "switch Up back"? That was said by announcer in the European Freeski Open.

its hard to explain but its when you jump when your still on the rail and do a 180, and land on the rail the other way. a "backside switch up" is when you do it the other way

It is basically where you jump or slide 180 on a rail so you go from having you right foot/ left foot furthest forward to having the other foot furthest forward down the rail/box. I havnt heard the phrase switch up back before but I would think it means a blind switch up. This is where you spin 180 on a rail so your tips so up the feature and round rather than down and round ( which is called a front switch up; maybe why he said a back switch up for the other way )

but the announcer sometimes say "switch up" and what happens is just the skier jumps on the rail and then down without doung anything on the rail (the thing that happens yes sometimes, but not here when the commentator says it"

I can't get it.. Can you provide a CLEAR video for "Switch Up" with some explanation?

at 0:47 that is a frontside switch up. It is called frontside because the skier does not lose sight of the rail when doing this.



at 0:23 this is a blindside switch up. It is a blindside switch up because he is turning his head and is blind for a second as he turns his body.

pretzel is where you scissor you skis to stop your rotation on a box/rail, this allows you to spin on say left, and then stop your rotation so you can spin out or switch up the other way.



this is a 270 on, pretzel 270 off.

pretzel is when you use your ski edge to change your direction on a rail.. its like a frontside switch up in the first vidoe

There is no possible way you can not know so many tricks and even have found this website unless you live in a remote region of Russia in which case you shouldn't have internet.

A switch up is when you put your thumb in your but, and then sit on your hand. Blindside is when you do it with a blindfold over your eyes.

A switch up is a k-fed without the 270 off. This means that a normal switch up is easier than k-fed because then the extra blind 270 is not neccesary. A normal switch must me done on a kink rail because if you do it on a normal box or rail its bad.
