Best way to heal road rash?

took a real bad longboarding fall and have some serious raspberries.........any experience with what works the best and fastest?

Hmmm well I always thought letting it "air out" and just keeping it clean was the key, but I get this nice gem last fall:

The whole letting it "air out" thing was super super painful... more so than any other roadrash I've had. It could be because it was my first in a dry climate (CO). It was like three weeks of that shit and wasn't getting any better. I found out that it was best to actually keep it wrapped and moist until a certain point. Then it was okay to let it "air out" and scab up.


Shit is the WORST. I would have rather broke my fucking leg... shit is such a deep nasty scar now.

Worst 5 weeks of my life. It was getting cold too and I couldn't wear pants cuz the juices would seep through all my bandages AND pants... and the wound would over heat too much with pants on. HORRIBLE.

keep applying bacetraceon  frequently to keep it from getting to stiff. plus it keeps it clean from bacteria

put on the POLY....polysporin + these like clear sorta bandage things, they dont have a little patch for the blood but there just sheets of sticky

I remember a few years back when I rode mountain bikes on a daily basis and over the course of a month I reopened an abrasion on my elbow four times. The first few times was just annoying because I was sick of having the scab but the fourth time it grew extremely infected. If i just barely applied pressure to the scab it would ooze pus. That lasted for a few days but I healed it by just pouring alcohol on the wound every few hours for about four or five days. The first time , it honestly felt like something was being lifted out of my skin. Fortunately, alcohol doesn't really hurt that bad. My tip is to just pour alcohol on the wound and make sure it's super clean. Enjoy it!

i had one that matched that along with an ankle that got torn to the bone and i had to use saran wrap at night to keep from fusing to my bed sheets.

tip. when you get your wisdom teeth pulled, keep all the vicodin they give you. as soon as you fall longboarding take one and take another every 4-6 hours for the first two days. the second hour after taking a fall can be the most excruciating consistent pain in the world and taking one as soon as you fall completely bypasses that.

thats crazy you would say that cause im about to get my wisdoms pulled lol and the are already coming in and hurt like a son of a bitch so the dentist gave my some hydrocodones, since i took my fall two days ago i havent felt my tooth pain at all haha

this chick knows.



i always dry mine with a blow dryer right after i get out of the shower to make sure it isn't all leaky and gross for the rest of the day. then i throw on some bepanthen, occasionally wrapping it.
that stuff works amazing post-tattoo btw.

polysporin doesn't work anymore because the bacteria are now resistant to the antibiotic. it's basically like using vaseline.
you have to get prescription strength antibiotics if you want a healing gel.
hair dryer after the shower is a really good idea!
