Smokers

To people who consider themselves "smokers" : when did you start, why did you start and could you quit now if you wanted to? To non-smokers : what do you think of smoking and would you ever try?? I have really mixed opinions on the subject but generally I'm a real health freak so it is of no appeal to me.

Smoking cigarettes though to me seems trashy. I've never smoked a cig and don't ever plan too.

i love tarboxing. i started buy packs of smokes when i was 19. Back when i was 17/18 years old i was heavily into the car tuner scene and smoking is very common in that scene. I smoked cigs when i was in grade 10ish for aftertoke when i still smoked weed. I could quit I think now but have zero desire to quit at this moment. Smoking + drinking = better than any drug. I dont care how anyone thinks about me smoking and if anyone pipes up at me for the "health concern" i snap back almost instantly at them.... Of course i know smoking is bad for health.

when i started drinking, i started smoking when i was drunk. eventually it just turned into a habit and i havent stopped.

if i put effort i know i could quit. but really i dont give a fuck and will continue to smoke. its part of my daily rountine now and i dont see that changing.

one thing i hate about smokers/smoking is smoking indoors. never do that shit. go outside.

ya same here. then the other day I smoked a cig and I almost enjoyed it... then for the next couple nights i was rollin up my own with some drum. but I stopped and probably won't be gettin back to that any time soon, tobacco is wacko

Ugh I fucking hate smoking/smoke. I can't stand to be near someone who is smoking or who has just smoked. The smell is awful and it gets on everything.

I only smoke when I'm absolutely wasted downtown clubbing. I've never bought cigs for myself though.

I instantly regret it when i wake up in the morning and it feels like a gave a blowjob to a broken bottle

i think smoking is disgusting, but theres a kid on my floor who rolls his own with some stokkebye shag and when i get all drunk off my ass its kind of hard to turn one down. on the other hand, never bought a pack, never smoked a manufactured cigarette, and i can proudly say i have smoked far far many more special blunts than cigs.

so no, i don't smoke cigs. i have tried them and i can definitely see their appeal especially when drinking, but it's not for me. plus making out with a girl that smokes is a bit weird to say the least.

I know a bunch of people for whom it was a "cool" thing, then it turned into a social thing, then a "mehh, il have one" to a real addiction. Now I don't know what it feels like to crave something, all I can say is unless you're absolutely meaning to, why would anyone let a habit get that far? Another question : would you ever try to convince someone to stop? Or is that (in your opinion) their choice.

I dont currently smoke weed because i get tested for that but i do smoke cigs. I started when i was 16 at work and have been on and off since. Im 18 now. Im not a heavy smoker, like one and a half to two packs a week. Nothing is more relaxing than a nice cig after a hard days work.

I also rarely drink so its a bit of an outlet for me. Whats it matter though, everything is gonna kill you, its just a race to the finish.

i only smoke weed, started when i was 13 just cus i wanted to do it. i can stop anytime i want, i just got off a 5 month sober period. ive only smoked like 2 cigs tho, the're a stupid idea

I bought my first pack when I was 16, I'm 22 now. pretty much the whole time I've just smoked occasionally. I would smoke one on the way home from work and stuff like that. And I could never smoke in the summer when it's really hot. A pack will last me a week easy. I would be fine never smoking one again if I had to. Now, I pretty much only smoke when I'm stressed or when I'm drunk.

It's a filthy habit to pick up and I highly suggest to everyone not to try it. Although, I will confess that when I see a hot girl smoking I get really turned on. I think it has something to do with the fact that my first gf smoked. Maybe?

I started with chew and a few years later decided i needed to quit, during this whole time ive smoked cigs when drunk, but when I quit chew i went full time into cigs. This lasted about 4 months until my chest had pains probably from asthma or something, so i quit smoking cigs and couldnt resist and went back to chew. Chewed for another year until I have finally decided i need to quit for good and that was in January, and im almost 4 months strong, but i do still smoke cigs when im drunk time to time, but i never buy them, only bum em

Anyways, I do plan on quiting soon as soon as the current stress in my life is done.

As an ex-smoker who wanted to quit for a long time, I would absolutely stop hanging out with you if you nagged me on my smoking. It's ridiculously obnoxious. Smokers know exactly what they're doing.

It's like getting nagged by a vegetarian every time you eat meat.

I guess it's a point for a bunch of them where it doesn't seem like a problem ; it's a high school thing and they're gonna stop. Call me obsessive or overprotective, but that sounds to me like they're just gonna make it harder on themselves later on. I know I don't have control over anyone but myself but I wish people looked a bit more long term than the end of the week. /rant

i started smoking more consistantly this september, mostly when Im drunk. Ive slowed down a bit now, partly because I dont drink as much as first and 2nd quarter of school, but ill have an occasional sober cig to "take a break". I know though at the same time that if i wanted to quit i could easily, and am in no sense addicted.

I started cause my whole family does, So I've smoked for 10+ years now. To be honest I enjoy smoking and find the smoke it's self soothing. I could probably quit now, I can for a week without a smoke easy as, but frankly I don't want to. I will one day though.

I smoke ganj pretty regularly.

I smoke probably 2-3 cigs/cloves per week. Mostly when I'm mad stressed, or drinking. I find cigs a huge turnoff with girls though. I'd never date a girl who smokes cigs.

And I couldn't tell you anything about smokers (as if they're all the same)? How can you know what it's like to be a smoker if you've never been one?

Anyway, that's not a smoker's reaction, that's a person's reaction. Nobody wants to hear about what they shouldn't be doing. But you can go ahead and annoy smokers with your superior knowledge on the subject.

The idea if feeling reliant on nicotine is the sketchy thing. So all you "occasional" smokers....even if it's not a regular thing, have you ever felt withdrawal? And to the actual smokers, if you decided "today I'm gonna stop" what do you think you'd feel like?

I'm not a smoker, I think it's kinda gross. I don't think I could date a smoker, the smell, the yellow teeth, the poor health, the leaving to go smoke all the time...not a fan. That said, I've smoked a few cigarettes in the past (generally when I was a drunk teenager), but it's not something I'd want to do regularly at all.

same story with the majority, only smoke when im drunk and i try to avoid cigs when possible. occasionally ill hit up a cigarillo or cigar sober cuz i like the flavor but thats about it. and hasnt been mentioned but ive smoked hookah a handful of times and while it is quite pleasurable im trying to stop cuz its apparently as bad as a whole pack of cigs. and no ive never felt withdrawal but have woken up feeling like shit with a mad sore throat after a night of smoking
