Ski Size Question

is a 171 park ski too long for me?

yea man, you're about 177cm tall. 171, would be short.
Go with a 176 or bigger.

Hey I'm 5 foot 8, i hate my short 161 skis... Would 177 Afterbangs be fine? Or should i look for a 170 ski.

Depends on the type of ski and what you're using it for.
Might have some troubles with swing weight for your size if you're using it in the park, but if you want to use it for powder/big mountain or all mountain, you might be able to handle it.

To be honest if u had any question about a 171 being too long, a 187 would probably by way above ur ability level

Mmmhm.
Stick in the 177 range (+/-4cm). 182cm should be be biggest you go, rockered or not.
I don't know what kind of park ski comes in a 187 and is rockered, but if you were unsure that a 171cm would be too long, something almost 20cm longer isn't for you.

Yea i would ride around a 176-178 if i were you and in the coming years you are going to bulk up so weight soon wont be an issue for you either

Getting in here kinda late, but I'm 5'8 and i ski a 188 I like a longer ski. But i know people that are 6'4 and ski a 168. So it's personal reference!

Yeah, and daron rhalves is like 5'9" and skis 215 world cup downhill skis, but that doesn't mean its a good fucking idea for some stupid ass kid

That is because they are WC downhill skis...When you're going to a race course of ice at 100+ km/h, you're going to want long skis. Anything below 190 regardless of height is just stupid at from a downhill racing perspective.
Same thing applies with big mountain skis. If you're charging, you're going to want a big ski.

I don't know why you've brought this thread back up, especially with no useful or helpful insight to anything.
The kid has a general idea of what to look for now. Stay in the 177 range like I said.
