what kind should i get? This is going to be my first pair of twin tips, and im looking for something durable and somewhat cheap. advice is appreciated K+
and bindings? You could look around your local shops right now for a great deal. You could check out the Sell/Trade forums right here on NS for some awesome deals. Online shops have some cheaper skis right now for instance http://www.backcountry.com has 8 skis under $400
buy my line chronics w/look bindings... it would make a sick 1st twintip setup in my opinion... great shape and cheap too (alot less than 400) pm me if you are interested... there's pics in my profile.
That was my budget when i picked up my new sticks back in January. I ended up with a pair of elan pinballs with marker squires for exactly $400 before tax. So far no complaints but I've only been on them about 5-6 days total.
Hold off until the sales truly get big at the end of the season. Go to your local shop and see if they have anything. As it is your first pair of twin tips, you probably aren't sure yet exactly what you want in it, stiff vs buttery, wide vs narrow, etc. Just buy whats the cheapest but still has okay quality. You will figure everything else out later.
if he lives in the east all those sales have probably started. I recommend heads, in my experience they usually go on sale for great prices at the end of the season because they are so under rated, and they ski great and are bomb proof. I picked up mojo 80s once mid season with px12ti's for 400+tax
from my experience, head's heave been a relatively heavy park ski. i know " weight doesn't matter blah blah" but if its your first pair of twins you want something you will be able to swing around and spin on fairly easy.
not a problem at all, a lot of my friends started park skiing on rockered park skis, and they had a lot of trouble popping onto handrails. i would just reccomend getting a cmbered ski, they are easier to ski imo
Exactly. Learn pop on cambered skis, then when you are buying new skis again, get a rockered ski if you want. I'm so glad I didn't get a rockered park ski this year.
poping on the alpha1/2/ halo would be fine cuz there is still camber underfoot just rocker in the tip and tall so it cant be THAT different to my understanding
i got line masterminds last summer on sale for $250. imo its a perfect ski to get started on (light, soft, narrow) and stands up to everything on the east coast
my friend, i recommend you any ski from evo worth less than or equal to $437.50. Now in return for my recommendation services you shall buy my EVO credit for the low price of only $399.99 WOW.... what a deal!!!
If you're really looking for new stuff, end of the season or start of the season, there are actually some good deals to be had in the fall if you dont mind last years graphics.
Honestly though, to get the most out of your money, search around Sell Trade here and Gear Swap on TGR, look for potentially good setups without too much edge damage to the ski and save some dough.
