The Marion County father who vowed to protect his daughter in a now famous video, was in court this week for hitting the very same girl.
The father infamously said "you done goofed, and I've reported you to the cyber police."
News 13 uncovered the Marion County Sheriff's report from where Gene Leonhardt, 53, was arrested for punching the 12-year-old Jessi Slaughter in the mouth.
The video that drew worldwide attention to cyberbullying, after the girl's previous videos about her being prettier and smarter than classmates drew attacks, her father jumped in on a tirade threatening anyone that gave her a hard time.
"You guys have ruined my life, I'm going to tell you right now, you guys are a bunch of lying, no good punks and I know who it's coming from," Leonhardt said.
Department of Children and Families did say they were in contact with the family at that time trying to help them deal with the firestorm they created.
Leonhardt was arrested after his daughter ran to a neighbors for help.
He plead not guilty in court and is free on $5,000 bond.
According to the report, when deputies asked Leonhardt about the blood on the girl's face, he told them it was theatrical makeup.
