Wow, I am incredibly sorry.

I hope that soon they will find a cure and that you will be treated. This does not make you weaker, it makes you stronger. It is a shame that people see it as a turn off instead of what they should really see it as... an obstacle that you cope with everyday and do a darn good job with.

So many people take little things for granted. If and when a cure comes out for your condition you'll be the best prepared out of anyone to face tough times, like a blister that heals and forms a callous (metaphorically so, my friend). RIP to your grandfather and cat as well.

To anyone who can't enjoy the same things that I do I send ALL my wishes - everyone deserves to do the things they want without having to suffer.

while i do feel sorry for you for suffering from a genetic disease, i feel you are letting it get the best of you. I do hope they can create a treatment or cure for your physical problem but I feel your mental health may have some factor in your quality of life. To me, it seem this thread was created as a cry for attention similar to "whoa is me" but realistically you have no restriction in your life that will effect the outcome of your life. I understand your skin condition is awful, and losing loved ones is a horrible experience as I lost my father while I was 17, my grandmother the following year, and now my mother currently is in chemo treatment for cancer aswell... but you cannot feel sorry for yourself, it is a very large red flag for mental health issues such as depression.
Constantly staying home from school does not promote progression in your mental state as it is basically isolation from life. At times it might seem like the good idea to stay home from school because you are in pain or feel sick but honestly you will regret that choice later in life as it has a tendency to promote loneliness and isolation, I suggest you reconsider your approach. The fact you have mentioned the fact your friends call you out on skipping school is also a red flag in my mind, perhaps deep down you feel you are not doing all you can to make it to school? In that situation, perhaps do half days of school as this will allow you to get out of the house and not allow negative thoughts to stew in your mind and give your friends a chance to witness your ailments.

Im not trying to rain on your parade or judge you, but I feel there is a distinct tone of "whoa is me" and blaming a deeper personal issue on other issues that are clearly visible and easy to target for blame. While you may feel this message shows no compassion and many of you may disagree, my goal in this message isnt a simple "+vibes" or "sucks dude", my goal lies with perhaps making the OP think from a different perspective and perhaps could further his life other than have others tap dancing around the issue. I see many people with harsh genetic conditions like parkinson's and MS get on with their lives while being trapped in a prison with their shattered bodies. It is possible to be happy my friend, just you may have to learn to roll with the punches and deal with the hand that life has dealt you. Take care and I sincerely hope for the best for you and your family, may the departed rest in peace.

thanks for the thoughtful post man, i know what your saying, and yes i do get on with my life. i do all the things normal kids do, just with some annoyying side effects. yes i can still play soccer, hockey adn all that kinds of suff. Infact i have a hockey tournament this weekend. its almost worse that kids my age and even adults do not understand the condition and it gets  a bit frustrating but i live with it. it does run in my family starting from my great grandmother to my grandfather to my father and his brother and now me and my 2 cousins. i happen to have the worst degree in my family at this time. but its nice that there are other people going through the same thing. i was wondering if anyone else on ns had this desease but i highly doubt it.

Sooo... my issues aren't nearly as bad as yours, so it sounds. But I understand it to a degree. I have a genetic disorder called ehlers danlos. I have too much elasticin in my cartilage and joints and what not. Causes me to dislocate things really easily and also gives me about as fair of skin as a person can have.... but I don't really burn... I don't really get tan either. My tan is most peoples palest coloring. I always get told to go outside and blah blah blah... I spend a lot of time outside... and I'm proud of my goggle tan, even though it just means my cheeks are just a tad bit rosey all the time instead of just fair.

ohman, i donno that sounds pretty bad. vibess. its kinda like me i guess, if i walk 1 mile in the summer my feet get super sore and the next day i probably wont be walking too much. i feel yah ;)

cover skin with ductape... ductape takes friction and skin stays fine :D

i got tourette syndrome man, and I know where your comin from. you said the kids when you were younger didnt know there was somethin up, and that still hapens to me. ya just gotta be patient, keep your chin up, and stay positive. dont let er take control, you just have to tell yourself you wont give up on life, and ignore the assholes out there that think theyre better coz theyre "normal"

dude that sucks,I went skating with my new skates today and got blisters on the insides of my ankles and was complaining,but damn,keep strong pal.
