Getting iphone. Haz questions bout data plan

Aight herz tha deal I might be getting an iPhone and I have 2 questions about the data plan. I'm getting the 200mb plan.
1.) Do apps like Facebook,iNS,twitter take up data? Like what the enet takes up?
2.) This is my first smartphone and my mother thinks I will exceed the data limit. How often do you guys surf the web n' shit? I have a zuneHD and won't spend a shit ton of time on the web, just on facebook n NS.(reason for question 1)

those apps take up (web apps) hardly take up anything. so if you get the 2 gb plan you wont even come close to breaking it. dont worry, ive got an iphone 4 and i havent used up even 1 gb and ive had mine for a few months

1. The data plan is for watching videos, loading pictures, sending emails, and sending pictures. Loading Safari and Facebook are equivalent to a txt message.

2. I have the 200 mg plan and it's fine usually I have access to Wifi, but even if you are getting close to the limit they alert you plus if you go over you only pay the $10 for the 2 gb that month.

Overall I would say start with 200 mg and if you consistently go over just switch to 2 gb it's only $10 more.

The only way you'll blow through 200mb is basically if you watch a bunch of youtube while you're not on wifi. Or if you use it as a sat nav I geuss. For email, ns, fb and other random browsing I doubt i'll get to 100mb prob not even 50mb if you have wifi at home.

Ok ok ok let me get this straight. If you have wifi in your house(I do) or wifi in like Starbucks or some shit you don't get charged? But say I'm chillin at the mall and it doesn't have wifi, and i watch a YouTube vid, it will use up some of the data. Right?

Well you'll still to pay whatever your plan charges you for 200mb per month. But yea while you're at home/uni/work/ wherever you can access wifi, your browsing won't come out of your 200mb monthly cap. It only does when you're out and about somewhere.

Yes when you are connected to wifi you don't use data. Only when your not connected to wifi will you use data. Example - Im in my house with wifi I can watch as much videos and send millions of emails without going over the data plan. Example 2 - Im driving in the car with no wifi I will be using data when I watch a youtube video
