well, if your gonna ride urban and djs.. buy a hardtail, it'll make you a smoother rider on the dh course too.. ride a hardtail, when you get on a fs you'll be a killer dh rider. there cheaper too.

if your doing urban shit, get a hardtail....make sure you get like 7'' travel on front shock....for any other shit get full....

^ depends on what kinda urban riding you talking about. trails kinda stuff and not to big of drops, you can pass on a 4-5 inch travle fork. if doing DH and big ass drops for urban, then you would use the 7 inchers.

Plus on most HT, you're going to rake your geometry with a 7inch fork... big time (and most likely snap your headtube off).

For hucking I'd suggest looking at a 5.5 inch JrT (with the good arches), or maybe one of those new Boxxers next year that are adjustable from 5-7 inches.

I had a Trek Fuel like 2 years ago, and i rode it for 3 days and the back shock gave out, i just traded it in for a 5500.

scratchcobra are you serious?! my whole bike team rides on trek fuels and they are nothin but good..unless you were beating the shit out of the shocks by doing drop offs, anyways i say hardtail.it definitely makes you a more technical rider and you learn more skills than youd learn on full suspension..not saying its bad or anything,it depends on what kind of rider you are

if your going to ride urban, some trails, and lots of jumps go with a hardtail, you'll end up becoming a very smooth rider and it works better for all of those. If your ridding anything like the shore get a f/s you dont need it but if your hitting up 8ft+ with bad landings then deffinatley go with f/s, its recomended if you have the money

ok, dont put a fuckin 7 inch fork on your hardtail for street, it will rake the geometry to hell,, and will snap your headtube likely like said above. especially if doing trial, then you want like an 80 mil fork.. i mean, some big forks work on hardtails, but its dumb to buy one for street.

um... really i have only seen like one pro freerider with a hardtail for his main bike. but trails guys, yeah they use hardtails, but a weird specialized hard tail.

iv gota a kona coiler its good allaround it can handle the freeride and dh aspects of riding and u cans stile petal almost as well as a xc bike. and the price is decent (1600) consideing it has good components

^ haha thats weird, yours is a decent all mountain bike, and mines a strict XC bike (but beat the shit outta it doing downhill/bigdrops and such) yet they cost the same...

iv had it for 2 mouths it survive dh but havent hit any drops biger then 6 feet yet thi season everything seems to work good on it except the hayes disk breeaks have been kinda shity and its def not a real xc bike

Whats your point skiierman? You can spend 1600 on a new DH/Freeride bike.....or you could spend 5000 on a trail/XC bike. There is difference in quality and price in all types of bikes.

^exactly. Pop some mobsters, hydros, a mid range 5 inch fork, and good rims on a dirtjumping bike - and you have a bike that does everything.
