4 more JOI riders…

Thought it was time to release a few more names that I would love to have over at JOI.

1. Jacob Wester.
A lot of people was wondering where he was in the first round of invites, but I figured that how much fun would it be if we released all names right away. of course we want to see Jacob in Åre, and the hopefully land one of his dub 16… [IMG]joinvitational.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif[/IMG]

2. LJ Strenio
LJ is Crazy, LJ is good, I like LJ!

3. Gus Kenworthy
I feel that its time for Gus to get out of the “video qual category”, he has proven himself over and over and its time to get a real solid invite!

4. Phil Casabon
Every event needs the style of Phil, so does JOI!

Phil Casabon should stop getting invites. Here me out before you all want my head. He won't win a big air or even slopestyle if he doesn't throw a double. It just isn't possible anymore. With him in the field all he is doing is taking a spot away from someone that can win. Yes, I like seeing him throw a style cork 9 in his runs, but he doesn't have a shot at winning.

It's because judge's are retarded and prefer "spin to win" over actual style. In King Of Style, Phil should of won. He easily has the best style. But no, judges prefer dub 12's being thrown. Don't get me wrong, dubs are cool and all, but I think that judges shouldn't only focus on dubs for winning a comp. It should be a mixture of things.

I completely agree. Between Casabon and Harlaut they have the best style. Don't get me wrong I understand that dub flips are as impressive as shit technically and physically, but I just like the feel that these guys seem to show more of what skiing should be.  The ease of what they do makes it look awesome no matter if its a bio 1440 or a HUUUUGE shifty 1. They make skiing look good rather than a facemelting combo of flips and spins.

And to anyone questioning B-Dog's attendance: if comps don't mix it up a bit, we run the risk of having the same mechanical runs every time. People like Phil Casabon, LJ, Henrik and Tom bring something different to big air comps. I would not watch JOI if it was likely to be the same Dub 12s/14s over and over.

fucking idiot you dont have any clue what you are talking about phil is one of the most consistent skiers out there, he makes it to the final in every comp he enters. big air or slope.

i love watching him ski and i hope he keeps getting invites, and maybe someday a switch bio 12 double jap will win over a dub 12 mute.

i understand that King of Style should be about style, but a comp like this you have to put in the style and difficulty element into it. You have to think of it like a competitor, if you throw a stopped dub 12 and the next guy throws a super styley 9 (which is still sick but not really strong enough for big air anymore) or something i would be pretty pissed if a guy whose degree of difficulty on the trick beat me out

i totally agree with this homie. dubs and crazy technical shit are really cool but its taking the aspect away from what makes us freeskiers. style! I think that dubs are crazy and they are definately a cool progression of the sport but they are no the only progression of the sport.

Dude calm down. While I agree with much of your post, i.e. that its good to have people like Phil in comps to add variety even though he probably won't win. But to say that Bobby and Elias are harming the sport is not legit at all or even remotely accurate. Comp skiing is comp skiing, and they both happen to be fucking good at it. Good for them. I happen to like both of their styles but that isn't the point. Freeskiing is growing to the extent that there is space for all types of dudes, from Kevin Rolland to Phil Casabon to Dane Tudor to Andy Parry to Andreas Hatveit and loads more types of skier.

The fact that comps are comps and that Bobby and Elias are fucking dominating does nothing to alter or harm what we love doing.

see the thing is is that Henrik has every dub flip that everyone else has. And more. Best dub 12 blunt in the game. Also one of the first do a 16. Judges are fucking retarded and dont realize that he could do that shit but its so damn easy he is bringing something new to the game such as blunted bio 14s.

anyone saying phil shouldnt have been invited is an idiot. Id much rather watch that shit then dub 12 after dub 12 and the occasional dub 16. your an idiot
