Cutting Poles Help

I put my grip in hot water for an hour and was not able to get the grip off. Any Tips? +k

take them to a shop... should cost you less than $10 and if they mess up, you get new pole.

The space/crack in an open door where the hinges are, is just enough space for a ski pole to slide down into from the top. The space is too narrow for the grip to pass through, so it's like a nice make-shift vice to pull your grips off if you don't have a vice.

did you put in in boiling water, or hot water? put in in boiling water if you didn't then try it.

HOW ARE YOU TRYING TO PULL IT OFF? I JUST USED TWO WRENCHES AND GRABBED THE POLE AND THE HANDLE AND IT CAME OFF PRETTY EASILY AND I DIDN'T EVEN HEAT IT UP

an hour? wow! how did you try pulling them off? i put mine in c door and closed the door on them sorta.. then i was able to yank the pole hard enough for them to pop off

fuck taking them to a shop, just get a hacksaw, take the grips off cut them (from the top, not tip) to however short you want them, then put the grips back on... the hacksaw is key...

Firstly, way to read the first post. If you did read, your reading comprehension skills are abysmal.

Secondly, a pipecutter will make the cut FAR better, smoother and easier than a hacksaw will.

yeah i got a pipe cuter for like 7 dollars.

and i still don't think the OP did it, but use BOILING WATER

after leaving them in boiling water for a while take the pole and put it in between the hinges of one of your the door in your house and jam it back and forth and it will probly come off after about 10 hard hits. (only do this on a door that isn't in the best condition)

i did mine for about a minute. stuck them in a door, closed the door, pulled, and they slid right off.

and to cut them i just used a disc grinder. lined up both poles at the point where i wanted them cut and buzzed through in about a second and a half.

what i did, wrap rubber bands around the pole, just underneath the handle, then put it in a vice (rubberbands provide a lot of friction so the vice doesn't have to be tightened to the point where it will damage the tube)
then take a waterboiler/kettle and pour hot water over the grips and pull em of with a twisting motion ....


once they're off, take a little pipecutter and cut the poles on the desired length, then take a rubber mallet and hammer the grips back on (might need a little masking tape underneath the handle to secure it tightly if the poles are a bit thinner ....

In case you did not get it the first three thousand time,
BOILING water.
SEARCH bar.

PROTIP: If you put it in boiling water and still have trouble pulling it off, hit the grip against something hard (Driveway, concrete, sibling/friend's head ect.) put it back in the water and try and pull it off again. Rinse and repeat if necessary.

i use an adjustable wrench and a hammer to pull mine off... i don't even use hot water... but you need a friend to hold the pole.

heat gun, or torch to the pole to heat that up then the heat will travel into the grip, therefore melting the glue

I just cut my poles. Put them in boiling water for 30 SECONDS and TWIST while boiling. Then you can tug them right off, or put them between a door and pull.

boilings good. but also windex, cuz it slides nicely but then dries completely. i use it for handlebar grips on my bike

A) go buy new poles the size you want it's easier
B) cut them where you want, then find some bike grips ~ $5 and slap them on with some duct tape and super glue.
