I don't hate it, just never experienced it. I think a new mountain range will pop up in the outer banks before I see any substantial pow in NC.

Honestly I have a feeling that this gets blown out of proportion. I think that some east coast people (like me) may not enjoy watching big mountain charging pow sections In films. I guess as I've gotten older I have developed more of an appreciation for it, but that's because I've now stood at the top of a couple of chutes and been super scared. I'd gander a guess though that anyone who doesn't like powder segments in videos does enjoy watching a Badass chads gap session, or some crazy booter inthe backcountry. This is powder too. It's just more what I'd call "newschool powder". I mean take the nimbus guys... The way they ski is different than traditional big mountain skiing, and personally I think it's pretty rad. The last factor is that a lot of people from the east coast have not skied real powder. When you get 4 inches of powder on top of ice, it's not like it's that awesome. You can't get out your hellbents and shred the trees, it's literally just a bit of fluffy shit on top of ice. The rails do get buried, and the jumps go to shit in a hurry. There is absolutely nothing wrong with being an east coast skier. That's just where we were born and where we live. I'm sure that faced with waist deep pow in the rolling trees at baker with a set of center-mounted 140 waist skis, any park rat would be in love. He'll that's pretty hard to beat. However take the reverse of that, and imagine whistler on a day where it's completely tracked out, rained for a week, then went to -20 celcius all the way to the top of the mountain. If you've skied under those conditions, you can attest to the rack that it fucking sucks. On a day like that on the east coast though, a park ray will sti be out hiking a rail and perfectly well enjoying themselves. In a way you could argue that a park rat is an extremely passionate skier, because they'll ski anywhere, anytime and in any conditions. Trust me though if you are one of those park rats, if you try real fucking deep-ass pow you'll love it. I mean you can still grind a log in the trees, bonk everything in sight, and try a cork 5 off of a natural roll in the terrain. That shut is fun as hell.

I on the east coast so not a lot of pow here but last week I gone to Sutton and ride the DEEP Pow with my alpha 2 :)

Now i like it and watch it too but after watching it.. i feel like skiing powder but i can't!

The only people that hate pow are gapers that went directly into the park and never learned how to actually ski. Either that or they blew their knees out and it hurts them to much to push through it. But whatever, the more people that hate pow the better!

I do the same thing as OP...a good pow day is a dream come true but since my mountine dose not get alot of pow then what eles is there to do then park? so i do both and i love both.

People hate powder strictly for the fact they cannot ski in it very well and it actually takes fundamentals and good form to ski it well and not get tired out instantly. All of these park rats need to get out and learn how to make some good turns

I honestly highly doubt that anyone actually hates powder completely. I have a feeling like this is massively over-stated.

What I do know, is that I'm sick of people hating on the park. I mean park is fun, why be so elitist as to hate ANY part of skiing?

If skiing is truly about having fun, we should support all parts of it... whether someone wants to slay some acro on the bunny hill, bash some gates, straight line a chute or do a quad kink rail in the streets... can't we just let 'em be?

Its all skiing.

Again, I doubt for a second that anyone actually hates powder.

Well wait - OK I'll pose this question. Is there anyone on here who actually hates the physical act of skiing in powder? I'm not talking about watching it, I'm talking about skiing in it. Lets also eliminate a small dusting that just covers the rails at a 250' vertical mountain.

Does anyone here hate skiing in deep powder on a big mountain with fat skis on?

Please answer honestly, and haters keep quiet.

If you do, I'm totally fascinated to hear why!

I hate when people talking about powder as the real skiing. Its just because then they can have a good explanation to not develop their park skiing amongst others. Ive skied a lot of pow but theres nothing more simple than to ride in a park. You dont have to wait for the snow, hike or whatever. You can lap all day and be creative whatever the conditions are like
