Trying to impress an italian beauty-what should i cook?

should i cook italian or no? if yes, i was thinking about making a lasagna or a ziti. if no, what should i make? would prefer not to spend more than $10-15 total.

general rule of thumb, never ever cook somebody food from their own country, because you will never be able to do it as well as they can. and 10-15$ total for a two person meal that is supposed to "wow"? you're going to have a tough time incorporating a protein in that price range. maybe do some vegetarian peasant foods, like a ratatouille, or some soup with some home baked bread

Go with any simple pasta. Not lasagna. I'm Italian and when non-Italians make lasagna it does the opposite of impress.

Also, don't to use canned sauce. Make it from scratch. Use extra virgin olive oil and have fresh cut bread so she can scoop up the rest of the sauce.

If you do this you will be in.

I would'nt cook Itialian, you'd probably be up against some pretty high standards. This is an easy recipe that tastes really good and has good presentation. You cook salmon on a bed of veggies wrapped in parchment paper thats been cut in the shape of a heart. Heres a link to the recipe

Yes. Dress the salad with balsamic vinegar and olive oil. No salad dressing.

I've personally never heard of "ziti". My guess is that is anglicized version of rigatoni or penne. Should be fine though. Let me know how it works out.

I would say don't cook Italian. My mom's 100% Italian and I'm always just thoroughly disappointed whenever I eat dinner somewhere else and that person attempted to make Italian food. She most likely has a standard for what Italian food should be and will just look down on you when you fail to meet that standard.

women don't like big meals, so go with something light and keep it classy. fresh ingredients are you freind, cook something zesty with a fruit or fresh herbs involved. Do you know what kind of protein she likes? besides semen of course..

basically find out what she likes and cook a nice simple tasty dish that involves that. keep it classy and make sure you pair it with a nice wine or other adult beverage.

never try to cook an italian person italian food being italian i know someone in my family or i can make it better than anyone else and this mindset will carry throughout other italian people regardless of how well you can cook just do something oriental don't try to really wow her with something too extravagant for 15 you wont be able to anyway just make a solid effort at whatever you do and she should appreciate it maybe next time she will cook for you

My Italian roommate would look down her nose at a guy for making her pasta. She'd say it's too cheap and easy, there was no effort involved, and her family makes it better anyway, blah blah blah. She is a pain in the ass in general, though. I, on the other hand, would be perfectly happy with pasta because I like pasta and that's about as far as it goes for me. However, I'm also not Italian, so the fuck do I know.

Someone said it before, but yes... an easy to eat and lighter meal is a great idea. You don't want something that makes you look retarded when you eat (or at least if I'm out to eat with someone I hate looking retarded eating) and you don't want something that's going to weigh you down. Lots of bright-colored, fresh vegetables will make anything look good. Do most of your prep work ahead of time, too, so you aren't frazzled and rushed the day of. This also gives you time and room for error.

If you want to start with a salad, my favorite is spinach, red onion, walnuts, cranberries, and feta cheese with some sort of vinaigrette. Makes you look good and is super easy.

Just browse through some websites. There are TONS of easy to make and make you look good recipes.

Make some salmon and a salad with mixed greens, blue cheese, cranberries, and an oil/vinegar dressing. Couldn't hurt to have some nice bread too.
