NS Photo Contest, Week 25

FIRST AND FOREMOST – THIS IS AN ACTIVE PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST AND YOU ARE REQUIRED TO TAKE YOUR PHOTO WITHIN THE SUBMISSION TIMEFRAME. You have two weeks.

As a result of me not hearing anything about a topic, I’m randomly choosing a topic for you all haha

Shadows

Yes, I chose shadows. I notice when a topic becomes super specific it gets harder for you to have solid entries, and when something is fun and playful you produce better stuff. So pictures of shadows, pictures that use shadows,
unusual lighting/shadowing could get creative…play with it and have fun this week so we can get back on track with this contest.

Rules:
-you may post 1 PHOTO ONLY
-you have TWO WEEKS to capture your photo
-no hating on photos, constructive criticism only
-we will have a voting thread to determine the top 5, then we will vote again to find the winner
-post your own photos (no stealing! You will be banned from the contest)
-click on embedded photos before judging, NS sucks the life out of them
-winner chooses the next topic
-you cannot win 2 times in a row, you can win twice, just not in a row
-PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go out and shoot! Do your best to not pull any files because it goes with the topic. We’re looking to have this be an active photography contest.

SUBMISSIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AFTER 11:59PM PST ON FRIDAY FEBRUARY 4th

Is this contest only catered towards shadows? Or can it be unusual lighting like you said.. So for an example a photo that was completely painted with a flashlight with an open exposure?

not that I speak for Ashley but shadows is an absurdly broad topic... I say you should try to stay within its vague perimeters instead of just taking a photo that suits your own personal desires and bending the rules to make it fit.

I must have interpreted this so much different. I interpreted it as silhouettes would count. They are blocking of light from one side and casting darkness back the other. It's a legit shadow per say but the topic is a little broad.
