im thinking about like just paying some poor swiss girl like 5 grand to marry me so i can get citizenship and slay laax for the rest of my life. maybe ill just marry her legally, and then be like see ya later... citizenship still intact.

what do you guys think, do france or austria have easier ways to get citizenship? like what if you like buy a condo in one of the resorts, will they give you citizenship for owning a home?

lol the swiss have great vacation time for jobs though if im not mistaken so stay there, i hear its like 6 weeks minimum

thats true. but i think it starts at 5 and within a few years it becomes like 8 weeks so u gain time quick

plus i dont think skiing around there is insanly expensive

Marriage (facilitated naturalisation)

A person married to a Swiss citizen may apply for Swiss citizenship by facilitated naturalisation after living in Switzerland for five years and having been married for at least three years. No language test is required, however one must show:

* integration into the Swiss way of life;
* compliance with the Swiss rule of law;
* no danger to Switzerland's internal or external security.

Children from the person's previous relationships are given citizenship along with the partner. This clause is not valid for same-sex couples.

It is also possible for the spouse of a Swiss citizen to apply for facilitated naturalisation while resident overseas after:

* six years of marriage to a Swiss citizen; and
* close ties to Switzerland.

Spouses acquiring Swiss citizenship by facilitated naturalisation will acquire the citizenship of the community and canton of their Swiss spouse.

they also have a bag jump that you can do as much as you want. i learned how to backflip on that, and then took it to a real jump the same day. you dont have to sig nany forms or nothin, just wait in line.

The Treaty of Maastricht, and Clause 20.1 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the EU has harmonised citizenship requirements between France and Austria, so they will be the same. And there is a likelihood that Schengen will extend this harmonisation to Switzerland too. There will of course be some national discretion in each case

If you marry a Swiss girl, you need to be resident in Switzerland or another EU country for at least 3 years, and take a naturalisation test before you can apply for citizenship. The application process can take between 6 months, and several years, it's quite laborious - we don't let just anyone in.

Your best bet would be to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain, which is granted more liberally.

woah so how can i apply for indefinite leave? wouldnt that be like a shitload harder to get than like a 1 year visa? can you do indefinite leave in austria switzerland and france? im really serious about this guys, the united states fed is generally becoming a feeding tube for an obese culture of very stupid people (on average,, both poor white americans and people in the slums score double digits below the average for central europe, although ireland is pretty low,) who want the government to give them EVERYTHING. i mean seriously

like health care in say switzerland works because the entire population is not having 8 kids like some families are in america, and people are 3 times healthier even with all their heroin addicts included. and there are so fewer deadbeats in switzerland. Everybody there has a brain and can contribut at a high level of society.

free healthcare in switzerland is like a buffet served to anorexics. You wont need to pay for that much food. Free healthcare in america, however is like a buffet for a bunch of fatasses. You will have to SPEND SO MUCH MORE on food.

thats why i really think i want to escape this country because america sucks in alot of ways. If you are an addict in an eu country and you end up in jail, they will actually give you drug replacement therapy in jail so you dont go through the most Godawful withdrawel of your life, which in most cases is what makes people lifelong addicts. i mean how caring is that? In america if your an addict and go to jaiil, you go through withdrawel in jail, and that basically takes your soul away.

Not in every EU country, believe that. Propaganda works both ways. Sounds like you're on some weird hate trip towards the states at the moment, haha.

I can add something, even though I don not know much about the matter. I think the gun laws in the US are fucked up. After the Arizona shooting they actually want to loosen the laws so it would be easier to get arms.

One hypothetical situation described by people for this was, that if another 'Cho' would run rampant on campus, the students and teachers should be able to carry guns on campus and shoot him/her down. That's just fucked up logic! More guns on campus legally = way more chances for mentally unstable or just randomly aggravated students/teachers to go on a rampage.

Or you could just score a 12 month contract and get a b permit, which allows you to live in swityerland all year, but you aren^t classed as a citizen.

obama is stupid for think america can model itself after europe with high speed trains and this and that. its just stupid. the smart people in america are being outreproduced by the dumbest people in america by a huge factor. America is WAY different from europe. america is going to absolutely die if it continues on this course. america is like homer simpson in the simpsons episode where homer puts the seafood all you can eat restaurant out of business. america is gonna go bankrupt pretty soon, so this i why i want to set up shop in europe.. maybe ill stay married to the swiss girl. guaruntees my kids will be a whole lot smarter than if i stay here and have it with fucking beyonce

and the french alps are also beautiful (was gonna say "equally beautiful" but that'd be a little lie)

and you still have a shoreline to go to in the summer whil swiss only has lake geneva ....

i dont know where you heard about free healthcare in switzerland.

That's why I'm saying, that John here should really check out some real facts before thinking about actually moving into Switzerland. Everything he has stated sounds like liberal spoutings he's heard about the good sides of European 'socialism' while ignoring any adverse things. Even these good things sound like nothing but hear-say.

Switzerland is not some Utopia although it seems like a very nice place to live.

He isnt far wrong though, It`s a super chill place to live

Wages are high. cost of living is that of say whistler. so expensive. BUT you get paid alot so it isn`t so expensive

Insurance is like 100 bucks a month. but your work covers you anyway for healthcare.


IMO switzerland is 100times nicer than france and alot cheaper. and you dont have to deal with that stupid Euro currency.

It's one of the nicest countries in the world. Switzerland is run extremely well, they enjoy a high standard of living, and they have amazing skiing. Of course it's not perfect, and no country can be perfect. Different people desire different liberties. If I had to choose another country to live, I'd choose Switzerland.

Laax, eh? I spent a season there. Incredible. I think I'll be coming back in early March.

Ha we aren`t part the the EU and to be honest if we did change to Euro Switzerland would go bankrupt.

It`s a country run on banking. It needs to stay out the EU to keep its banking the way it is.
