First backflip!

so today i learned my first backflip. it was not a very large jump and had a couple bails like double ejection due to under rotation lol but 3rd times a charm and i got it! im super stoked. once i get it dial it i plan on trying way more! ive noticed that skiing with a friend who isnt a pussy and will try stuff with you motivates you so much! me and my friend were talking before we tried the backflips and said that we cant wait to answer the classic gaper question of "can you do a backflip?" and now i can say yes!

Yeah dude! I got my first one pretty early this season but it was totally lucky and on the first try so I landed super back seat. Buttttttttt we just got a POWWWWW day and I tried one on a thirty footer!!!!!! I know the feeling bro props

I got a concussion a week and a half ago going for my first backflip. under-rotated and did a digger, slammed my face in, and blacked out.

I did my first one about 2 months ago and idk what it was but it just flipped a switch on in my head from that point forwards i was trying everything that came to mind now I'm sitting here with a broken collarbone to show for it haha

lmao i tried the pipe a couple years ago and did the same thing. and dude its all about the tuck, first two times for me i under rotated then the 3rd time i tucked more and stomped it. try that out!

everyone who says they are pussying out, this is what you gotta do. i found a skier friend who is pretty much as good as me. we both try stuff together but its all about making him go first then you say to yourself "shit now i gotta do it" lmao. but ya a lot of the times its all about how good the peop-le are that you ski with

everybody who hasnt tried it heres some stuff i learned.

always commit or dont do it. if you commit you cant really get hurt that bad unless you lack serious coordination lmao

look for your landing obviously

sometimes its trial and error so dont get discouraged and try adjusting some things

depending on the jump size, tucking may be the key (it was for me)

and lastly get a friend who has balls and is willing to throw something first haha

and dont forget to claim! when i landed my first one i like yelled and put my hands up. people on the beginner lift were cheering to lmao

thats all i can think of but if i remember anything ill post it!

This is the happiest thread i've seen on NS in a while. I was expecting a bunch of assholes to be like good for you claiming a trick in skigabber. Instead i found a bunch of stoked kids who just learned and people congratulating them. This reminds me of last week during a snow day from school and a big pow day a bunch of my friends learned backies and the stoke level was so damn high. Backflips are the funnest trick to learn congrats man.

It's weird... reading this made me think of all of you as little kids haha I don't know why. I guess on a forum all I can see is your name and your comment and most of everyone here is just foul-mouthed (on the site in general, not this thread specifically) and cocky so I think everyone on here is like, legit 18+ year old slayers that are way better than me. Reading this thread made me realize how many of you are like, new groms coming up in the ski game. No disrespect, I mean more power to you, but it was just a funny realization. Congrats on your first backie, kid. They'll become a favorite in your bag... until you come up short on a park jump doing one and dig in your tips... double eject to face. Sucks.

Hey bro, before you tried today did you do backies on trampolines or did you just go for it all out today? I might be going skiing soon and would love to try a backflip but i dont have a trampoline and havent done one before. I can do 3s which are supposedly harder but maybe i should try it on a BC booter into pow.

Ehhh I'd say at least attempt one on a trampoline or at the local pool or something. It's kind of a unique rotation you have to get down.
