Studying Abroad near an ocean

Hello friends,

i want to go abroad next year, and so i have to start thinking about this now. so the deal is all i want to do is surf good waves when i go abroad, school is of minimal importance. i hope to take easy classes and spend the rest of my time surfing. yes yes, surfing, not skiing. i was thinking somewhere in aus, nz, france. you dont need to be a surfer to respond to this thread, just if you know of universities that are near oceans, like a 30 minute drive away would be really good. an hour is o.k. also. im going to be studying business when im there, not marine bilology or anything like that, i just wanna be near the water to surf.

universiy of hawaii? seems too obvious to be a good suggestion. i've gone surfing twice and its mad fun (for the 2% of the time i was standing up hahaha)

NZ pretty much sounds like an epic place to live.  It's on the top of my list of travel priorities.  I haven't heard a bad thing about it and I hear the surfing is good.  I'm sure there are a ton of universities close to the ocean down there.

I live in NEW ZEALAND, and I surf.

For surfing, the best universities would be the University of Otago and the University of Auckland. Canterbury has some waves, but it's not really worth the effort.

If I were you,  I would look more at Australian Unis because the surf in Aus is much, much better than over here.

I have a few friends that studied abroad in Australia, and they absolutely loved it. One is a pretty good surfer and he most certainly got some good surfing in while he was there. He studied at the University of New South Wales in Sydney which is also home to one of the best beaches to surf at in Australia I guess. Why do you want to surf instead of ski??
