Macbook memory

Ok my macbook memory is about to run out. I have about 7gbs of space left of a 160gb hard drive. I am i keep having to delete things if i buy stuff of itunes.
I am wondering if it would be best to buy a new hard drive or hook some sort of external one and sync it so it's like an internal? Sorry if it's a little confusing.

Do not buy Western Digital. Or those "My Book" hard drives. Also, if you're doing video, you are going to want at least a Firewire 800 connection (assuming you're shooting HD). Make sure whatever you buy is 7200 rpm as well.

Or you can buy the toaster dock and load it with internal drives. I got two 1TB drives + toaster dock + eSATA Xpress card all for under $200.

And i assumed he didnt need firewire since he doesn't even know what an external is so i suggested the cheaper option. And he doesn't wanna deal with internal drives and esata, he might not even have firewire he only said "macbook".

You can still use toaster slots with firewire. And how is your Western Digital still alive? haha every one I have come across esploded and now I don't trust them.

Ive had one for two years and the other for 1 1/2. they usually just sit by my comp. just got a 1tb firewire lacie rugged tho, stoked.

My computer has a firewire 400. I was asking about the external because i read you can sync the external with your computer so when you are editing it puts the render files etc on the external and what not.

I like the idea of the toaster but my new MBP has no express card slot, just the SD reader which sucks. How can I get the speed of Sata with my crappy fire wire port?

Just set your FCP scratch disks on an external drive. Also, memory and storage are two different things. RAM =random access memory and storage = hard drives
