the weather and setup was great this past weekend, tons of different lines of all ability levels. the jibs I've been hitting have been set up well and seem to slide fine. The jumps are smooth and safe. of course you have to deal with the common and unavoidable problems that come with the midwest, ice and the occasional rutted- or bombed-out feature or gaper invasion, but overall I think Chestnut is really doing a good job this year, the park is probably as good right now as it was at its best last last year. I've been having tons of fun there!
just wanted to bump this thread, chestnut is having a slopestyle event tomorrow night starting at 7:00 (they're open til midnight). everyone in Iowa, Illinois, and southwest Wisconsin should come session the park!
here's a sample of the course, being rebuilt earlier today:
I was just wondering how the snow conditions are right now? I'm in eastern Iowa and its 65 degrees and most of our snow is gone. I was thinking about making the 2 hr drive to go skiing on saturday but if the snow is crap then I'm not sure its worth it.
I haven't been out in a couple days, but there should be plenty of snow left. they had a 60-inch base built up before the weather changed. also, the Big Nut Open is next weekend, so they should be putting up the slopestyle course on the front side of the hill. come check out out!!
