Final Cut can't find my HV30 and i'm pissed off

i'll keep this short

i have a macbook from 2009 running the newest version of final cut

4 to 9 pin firewire between the hv30 and the computer that fits perfectly

I get this message before even entering the editing program:

when i get into final cut, i get this when i try to log & capture:

help pleaseeeeeeeeee, i know this is mad noob but i need it.

added note, when i click Apple in the top left of the screen, about this mac, and more info -- my HV30 is to be found connected to the firewire. which is a good sign.

final cut pro> easy setup> change to HDV and whatever you filmed your stuff in

ah yes, thank you, i figured this out while i was waiting for a reply but thanks a lot.


now, should i keep this firewire that i bought at best buy for 40 bucks? seems like a gigantic ripoff but it is Dynex

the main advantage USB has over firewire in my opinion (though I still much prefer firewire) is that the cords don't cost so much.

40$ isn't obscene, you can find cheaper cords of cheap quality, and expensive cords that are better quality... whether you got a cheap one or a good one, who knows?
