I went into this movie knowing two things about THall.
Great skier that co-owns Armada.
Chads Gap.

I was expecting a documentary about the early life of Tanner, the progression of the sport, and some sick footage. So I could get pumped for the season.
I got all of this.

Holy shit, this is actually a gut wrencher.
I don't want to spoil anything, and I'm probably late on this anyway.. Just watch this movie.

I know most of you are skiers, but I would recommend this to anyone.
Second most emotional documentary I've ever seen, first being Dear Zachary, which I also recommend to anyone.

This movie is top fucking notch.

Don't get it for good skiing.
You likely won't find it.
It's not an hour and a half of ski porn.
Get it for a good story that applies to all people. Not just skiers.

I will admit that I did not expect Like a Lion to be good, let alone great.

I just finished watching it.  It's def. the best ski-related film I've seen so far this year. 

As someone dealing with recovery after a broken calcaneus , Tanner's recovery stories were truly inspiring.  The film is also the best inside-look at freeskiing's evolution from its early days, as told by those that are part of its history - Jon and Raps were particularly interesting to hear from.

its a documentary. not a ski movie. it was put together really well, the interviews were amazingly well done, and the old footage of tanner was incredible. They did a good job with this. Definately didn;y know about tanner being hard on the sauce though.

Kids. Please don;t try and be like tanner in his personal life. just try and emulate his skiing.

Just finished watching it and it is incredible! Especially CR, man you can really see he was a great person and that he will be missed. Tanner is a strong guy and I really have a lot of respect for him, came out and really told the true things about his life (even his addictions and shit) and you can really see why he is one of the best for freeskiing out there.

Most worth it movie I've ever seen. downloading it on itunes is a good idea but this is 100% worth the DVD copy price.

Iberg really nailed this one. Such a breath of fresh air for ski movies. Really showed how Tanner is not as bad as a lot of kids on here say he is. Just a kid with a dream just like all of us.
I really liked being emotionally invested in a ski movie for once rather than just looking for banger shot after banger shot.
Great job to Iberg and all the guys who put this thing together and hopefully we see more documentary style films next year.

sick movie. really showed the truth of tanner hall.
shows how a little plant called mary j wana can't affect progression!
the only part i wasn't stoked on is how there barely was any skiing but overall it was sick as fuck

If you spend your money on one ski movie this year, put it on Like A Lion.

I say ski movie loosely, because this movie is mostly a human story about a guy who defined an era of skiing. Tanner allowed Iberg to get the real story with all the highs and lows, and Iberg went out and got incredible insight from the people that know T best.

The CR segments were gut wrenching. The old THall interview in the black and white where he just pours his soul out...wow. Talking about how enlightened CR was after the coma is super super inspirational. Then obviously when CR passed, raw emotion from Iberg and T falling off a cliff.

Great movie, awesome look at a character who's frequently misunderstood (sometimes through his own fault) but really just loves skiing and is so committed to the sport.

It was nothing like i expected, but it was so good! well worth it, i would for sure recommend seeing it just to appreciate everything tanner does.

This is so true he is just bad lol. And to the kid who says he hopes we see more documentaries next year, I really hope we don't. The reason Like A Lion is so good is because Tanner's life is so unique and he went through so much shit. I feel like other pro skiers just wouldnt be very interesting. Bravo to Iberg such a well done job.

i agree with everything in this thread. great movie and i enjoyed it. but i couldnt help thinking that maybe they did this a little to early in Tanners life. hes what? 28/29. just imagine if they waited 10 years and then did it. just a thought

well, that was unreal - both uplifting and sobering

required watching for pretty much anyone who has ever dedicated time to skiing, snowboarding, or anything they love

makes you feel weird as a spectator of the sport as well, bad things can happen regardless but maybe its what we choose to appreciate in skiing that influences those who make a living from it? by constantly screaming for bigger and bigger jumps with more and more flips are we hurting and endangering our own? if we keep withholding fame and rewards from our athletes unless they put themselves in almost mortal danger are we almost trying to kill them?

at any rate get and watch this movie asap

i've had for like 6 days and i've watched it 2-3 times as well. have you been listening to the soundtrack? i got it from itunes but then i wanted the soundtrack so i bought that too. i wish i bought the dvd

I was so amazed that nearly every little thing they talked about they had a relating video clip.

The interviews were perfect, the mood was great, it was a bit chronologically incorrect but the best ski related movie I have ever seen.

BTW I am now in the process of writing my 3-5 page english essay on this documentary haha.

Iberg did a great fucking job with this one. Its rare to see someone basically put it all on the line in such an open documentary such as this one and tanner and Iberg did just that.

Really touching at times, I almost teared up hearing them talk about CR.

The only thing that could have made it better in my opinion was that they didnt have footage of tanner breaking his legs on the TGR jump. Its hard to believe no one was filming it.

Other than that, the movie was on point

yeah when I ordered it I didn't realize it came with the soundtrack, so i was pretty happy about that. I've been listening to the soundtrack, it's pretty good. Thanks about the icon too, rocket powers awesome.

just bought it on itunes yesterday, watched it this morning. this is the first ski movie i buy in a while, and i must say its my favorite one. ya it doesnt have as much crazy sick footage that all the other ski movies have, but its 10x more inspiring. i must say, when i was younger and just getting into freeskiing, i wasnt a big fan of tanner, but as i got older, i gained more and more respect for the guy, and now hes probably the guy i have the most respect for. fuck the haters
