second one needs better lighting, its too dark. Move the flash a little bit more towards the front of the model and have it facing his face more than coming from his side.

i'm really feelin the first one because im a drummer and i think it's a sick shot. and i like the second one but i think it needs more light perhaps.

The drumming one is something everyone has seen before, nothing unique. The second one is dope, i wish you could see more of the skis though

2nd pic needs more front lighting and i'm not a huge fan of the way he's holding the ski in his right hand.

yeah your right about that. it actually is jsut a desk light that was on the side in his garage so i couldnt move it but i def can see how it would benefit

yea i was gunna guess that it was a kitchen light or something. The light is too uniform and the flash stand would have been pretty lrg. For the second one i would have gotten the light more on his face, Removed the rail all together and possibly put his hood on him. My suggestions only really give advice on how i would have arranged the subjects in the shot and not the actual shot realy. First shot is a little over exposed IMO and it loses its "intent" by the contrast being slightly off? I can't really put my finger on it but I will get back to it and see if i can figure it out.

yeah I agree. I wasn't really trying to do any formalized type photoshoot so I kinda just was holding the camera and snapped away. I might just take out that rail and see if it looks good but the absence might look awkward you know? but yeah for the drummer I feel like I should have used a tripod if I had one at my disposal so that I could use a slower shutter bringing the background more correctly exposed and less blurry.
