Did you ski the season after knee surgery?

i dislocated my knee on november 15'th last year and had my meniscus repaired immediately after then my ACL repaired in january. The doc and physical therapist OK'd me to ski but my right leg is still significantly weaker than my left and still has some aches and pains once in a while. So what's NS's 2 cents?

i cracked my kneecap in half in may and had emergency surgery on may 24th, ive been working on rebuilding my strength. I am able to ski now. ive been seshing a small pvc rail and my knee is holding up although it still gets sore afterwards

I had ACL+meniscus surgery on Dec 21st last year (MCL healed on its own), been doing PT like a bitch, and I feel like 90% right now. Knee still gets sore after soccer, but that's normal, I just ice it. Leg workout 3 days a week, 2 are using lighter weights (eg 20x 95kg leg press, 4 sets, curls, extensions, ab+adductors, hammies, etc) and just getting my right and left leg even again, and one max strength leg workout a week. Don't neglect your core, I did for about first 2 months of my recovery, and when your hip/abs/back are strong and balanced you notice your knee feels so much better. I feel like I'll be ready in time for when my season starts (in about 5 weeks)

It really depends on how hard you've been working, and how you feel. Don't overdo yourself, the last thing you wanna be doing is sitting out another season. I will be skiing with a simple neoprene knee support, not my brace (I skied 2 days in July, it felt fine)

Oh, and don't forget coordination. That has been my limiting factor during recovery (still is), cause you lose some nerves in ACL surgery.

Definitely, After acl/meniscus surgery in late august, i was jumping again fully by january.

Get your ass in the gym.

I understand you are looking for advice here but really if you are having doubts this is a conversation you should be having with your doctor or PT.

The advice in here, for so far given, has been fine but everyone is different!

Think of if something does go wrong when you ski, what are you going to tell your parents or doctor? "Some kid on NS told me it was ok so I did."

My general rule of thumb with NS is if it's not related to ski gear don't ask. People here are not qualified to give such answers.

i had acl and meniscus march 25th and wasn't full on shredding til jan/feb. but thats because i developed horrible tendonitis in my patella, and i kinda blew it on pt. STAY ON YOUR PT! I didn't and my shit is still fucked up 2 1/2 years later.
