Car/Van Rental

I've never heard anything amazing or terrible about any rental companies.

Generally, your designated driver has to be at least 21 or you end paying additional "underage surcharges."  Also, I believe some companies have an age restriction on large vehicles, like 12 person vans or big trucks.

I think here in Washington you have to be over the age 24? or 25? to rent a van/car. Avis usually has good vans to rent, but renting can be pretty expensive. If your flying into SeaTac, look at the website to see the car rental companies that rent out large SUVs or Vans

the driving age isn't a state specific thing. i've flown out to seattle several times for the first leg of a whistler adventure and rented SUVs and minivans at SeaTac and this past year was the first time anyone was 25. minimum is 18, i believe, but you'll have to pay some sort of fee for being under 25, which is usually like 25-50 a day. you'll also pay extra for every person you want to be on the rental lease to be able to drive the car. since i was 25 and no one else was, i was the only one who could drive the rental, since we didn't want to pay extra just to have everyone be able to drive. also, don't get chains from the rental place. your best bet is going to walmart and buying them there. if you don't end up needing them, return them on your way back to the airport. chains were the best $40 spent on one of my trips last year, cause a loaded down front wheel drive minivan with all season tires is not making it up a mountain road with almost a foot of snow otherwise.

thanks for the replies, yea so we found a 12 seater van for $650 ish for 10 days thanks to an avis online discount code:). previous estimates around $1700!

when you come up to baker be sure to hit it mid-week if you can. weekends are hell up here.
