MSP The Way I See It

Best professional movie of the year. I liked eye trip but though it was lacking good angles and good editing (some of the cuts were a little off). PBP was dope but wasn't a fan of the soundtrack and the layout of the movie. MSP stepped it up big time this year and gus, rus henshaw, bobby's park shoot at aleyeska (sp?) put skiing on a whole other level.

yes. I think eye trip had more of a "that was cool" factor. meanwhile msp's made my jaw drop. Sean Pettite..oh my gosh, i nutted, the swedes segment was funny, and Russ's triple cork attempt made me shit myself. They got that pow pow on lock this year, and for 9$ HD off itunes its definitely worth it.

as much as I love Colby and it made me laugh, it just didnt have the "wow" that the others had, i liked how he talked through his pipe run and made it look like nothing though.

It was sick.

I was really impressed by Richard Permin. He was in one of the park shoots, and he killed it in big mountain. I was really blown away by how great of a skier he is.

The shot in japan where the skier jumped onto a tree branch, rode it out over a cliff and then dropped 30 or so feet was so sick, i watched it over and over. Plus Russ's true triple cork 16... I knew I would see Bobby's triple flat, but I did not expect to see Russ bring around an actual triple cork to his feet. He held the grab so long too.

am I the only one who thought it was overrated by a bit? Yep, the park shot was unbelieveable, and Petitt's (sp?) segment really was phenomonal, but the rest of it was pretty typical big mountain riding. It could be that I was totally jaded by all the talking. All of the commentary, aside from Ingrid and Colby's segments, was just lots of boring talking that fell way short of eloquent. If I want to know about the "experience of it" either tell me in a few solidly constructed, heart-felt like or give me the link to a blog at the end of the movie. After about the 20th minute of "I was totally stoked on the trip, there were some lines that I had been eyeing the past couple of times we were out here" or "There is just nothing like skiing, so free... blah blah blah"

And just to reiterate, the skiing was pretty awesome. Not sure it was worth $7 for me though.

QFT. I was blown away by the opening segment. I was blown away for pretty much the whole movie. But at this point I couldn't tell you if it was from all the rad shit everyone else was doing. Or if I was still numb from Sean Pettit's opening segment.

Though I will say that The Ingrid, and Arne Backstrom(RIP) segment was pretty powerful.

yeah you are. The whole movie flowed so well, if you don't think this was better than level 1 or poorboyz you're crazy.

Just throwing this out there that this was the best ski movie ever produced to date.

I liked it, but as a young "newschooler" I enjoyed it, but Eye Trip is a must see. It wasn't bad at all though.

Saw a premiere, and then bought it when it came out.

I like it more ever time I see it. Tons of great skiing.

Though they really go for the funny angle with all of the narration by Kaj, it's so obvious that he's having fun while he's on skis. I love it when movies communicate that, and it's harder to do/less common in the big mtn arena.

Props to MSP.

Yo for sure my favorite movie of the year side by side came pretty close but the level of filming from MSP this year was just awesome. I just felt that ski movies got their thats it thats all from The way i see it so that was sick too. The japan pow section makes me wanna ski so damn bad though its brutal!!

I thought it was just amazing. Had such a great vibe. All of the riders were pushing the sport and had came out with awesome footage and Sean Pettit was jaw dropping to watch.

On triples, Gus Kenworthy said in another thread that Bobby "stuck them both". I was therefore under the impression that he did a 2nd one too in addition to the trip flat? One of his tricks in the trailer which cuts halfway through looks set too hard for a dub, (triple 14)?

it was good, but damn i jaded with MSP movies. "i just feel so weightless when i'm in the air" etc etc i mean how many times can we hear that stuff? the skiing was really good, some segments were awesome, but best ski movie ever produced? not even close

i dont know, maybe TBC or propaganda. but that's subjective. i didnt mean to get on your case about the way i see it, it was good but just sort of long and boring sometimes. like i said i think ive just seen too many msp movies. i'm more of a fan of shorter more exciting movies

I really enjoyed it good mix of styles good flow i agree with strum the commentary was meh but overall great movie well worth the 8 bux or whatever it was on itunes
