Reason 4 is an excellent program, and some scamps on youtube tell you how to get it free, exceptionally easy.

reason 4 is pretty advanced. OP if you want something basic, try fruity loops or magix music maker

great thanks guys, 10/10s around.  does anyone know how to make actual notes on magix music maker, instead of draging in premade stuff?
