1970's Minolta Primes working with T2i?

I have six Minolta primes (28, 50, 50, 135, 135, 200) and a 70-200 from the 70's that I found in my basement. I have put pictures of a couple of them in the thread, the others are on a few of my 35mm cameras. I was wondering if these lenses would work with my T2i. I'm not really worried about thread sizes, as I'm sure I could get an adapter, but the autofocusing. These lenses are manual focus. Would the T2i look for the autofocus lever, (I think it uses a lever, I don't really know though) not find one, and then give up on the lense altogether? Or would simply getting a thread adapter to fit these lenses work.

By an adapter and start shooting. You wont have autofocus, but that doesn't matter.

Thanks. I wasn't worried about having to focus by hand, I was just making sure that the lens not having that capability wouldn't mess up the camera.

Where would I find what size adapter to get, is the thread size written on the lens?

I pretty much just shoot with primes just search for  an adapter that goes from what the lens threads are canon threads theyre cheap

The flange to focal plane length on the old Minolta MD glass is more than it is on an EOS camera. Therefore, you will lose infinity focus on the lenses.

There are adaptors that have an element in them to correct the image, but they often degrade the image more than anything else.

You are left with 2 options.

1. Convert your camera's mount to Minolta (Easy, reversible, but isn't an option for use in the field if you want to throw a Canon on there.

2. Convert the lenses to an EOS mount via an M42-EOS adaptor, and some work on the lens itself. http://vimeo.com/14891384


The conversion has been done a lot and you will routinely see the lenses up for sale on ebay.

Addendum: From what I can see, not many of the lenses you have up would really be worth converting. Or maybe they would be. It is up to you. However, for a small sum, there are much better lenses that can be had for similar money, and less effort for your T2i. Any Nikon prime with a manual aperture ring will work with an adaptor on a Canon.
