i have a mac and imovie keeps quitting on me when i plug my go pro in no idea whats going on?

Copy and paste the files from the gopro to a folder on your hard drive and import it from there, it'll work much better.

^^^yea definitely , you can hardly play the movies it makes off the actual memory card let alone edit them
