Anybody had a frank discussion regarding illicit recreational drug use with their doctor?

I know they can't tell on you and their not supposed to be judgmental.

But how knowledgeable were they regarding stuff like what not to mix and the bespoke effects each drug has on your body.

I don't lead a super party lifestyle but once in a while I do believe in better living through chemistry. And I've pretty much always been honest with my doctor when he prescribes medicine and asks me what medicine i'm taking.

But since I'm mixing various drugs which have prescription strength effects it seems like I should speak to someone with more knowledge of science and my body than the stoners on erowid specifically to find out what I'm dealing with.

Anybody ever done this?

If your doctor is 5 years out of med school he's pretty much seen it all. Tell him what you feel is relevant and he won't be able to tell a soul anyways.

Hes not asking ns about mixing drugs, hes asking ns if anyone has ever approached their doctor about it..

I havent, but my doctor is an old chinese lady and Id rather take the risk rather than having to hear her bitch at me about it haha. But Im sure they would be able to give you some tips, just dont tell them youve done it, be hypothetical and shit, like "If I were to" just to be on the safe side.

Your doctor can contact any other doctors that he knows of that prescribes you say...ritalin, or benzos (for anxiety), and those doctors might think you have an addictive personality, and take you off those otherwise perfectly useful medications.

If you are going to ask your doctor hey is it cool to take some ghb, 120mg of adderall, 3.5 grams of mushrooms, probably half a dozen beers, and a couple shots before consuming some xanax to bring you back down to earth at the end of the night. I would probably refrain from that. Im not sure what the question is here though.

Honestly,

bluelight.nu and erowid.com are really good resources. If you actually research what you are doing. You will decrease your chances of ever having close encounters.

One of my doctors prescribes marijuana and I have had discussions about him prescribing it, although I've never pressed my luck asking for him to prescribe it to me. Just because I know there are easier less questions asked kind of ways to get medically certified for marijuana here without risking my prescriptions that I do desperately need.

What drugs are you trying to mix?

Never mix SSRI's with MDMA. Never mix blood thinners with booze. Mixing anything with booze amplifies the effects and should be done carefully. Weed doesn't mix badly with anything (besides lots of alcohol, giving you the spins). Try to avoid the upper/downer mixes. Don't take ambien with anything really, people can sleepwalk. Try not to mix too many uppers together, or too many downers together. Just be smart about it. Erowid actually is a reliable resource. I don't think doctors would give you that great of advice, besides don't do it. Are you under 18, seeing a pediatric? Then they will DEFINITELY tell you that anything is bad for you.

wow, you can tell who read the post and who did not. Its quite hilarious that only half read the OP.

All the physicians around home are all old as fuck. When I went to get my wisdom teeth pulled out, the doctor noticed that I checked occasionally beside the recreational drug use. I told him with confidence that I do consume weed. All he did was give me "the look". He said there were no risks with the interaction of sedation.

I think it depends on the doctor. I tell my doctor pretty much everything, including all the drugs I've done etc. I feel like if you don't think your doctor will judge you, then go for it, it could be useful information

same deal here, the last checkout i had i lied and said i hadnt used weed but my doc was just like you know it is the safest drug and i was like yea ok. so she seemed real chill about it and im pretty sure she knew i was lieing. but anyways last night i got pretty twisted. its a much different feeling than either one alone and i can see people not liking it and geeking so yea take cautiin when doing any drugs if you are on any prescriptions and dont do meth
