Two blocks is pretty damn close I'd say. Landing gear from one of the planes went through the building. Don't believe everything you hear on the news. Probably getting it from MSNBC or some garbage

Hate all you want but you can't stop it. There are no legal grounds upon which the mosque can't be built. If they find a way to prevent it, it'll go to court, the developers will win, and it'll get built.

My biggest concern it is that when it's built some dumb-fuck loser is going to go Oklahoma City on it's ass and then how are we any better than the handful of radicals who perpetrated 9/11?

look at the history of islam - it is a religion with world conquest at its core and through out history they have built mosques on the sights of what they consider to be great victories and that is exactly what they are doing at ground zero.

i am all for freedom of religion provided that the aforementioned religion doesnt fly planes into our buildings. american values and islamic values are completely conflicting ideologies. i dont want to sound like a racist or big but there is no place for islam in america.

Islam is not a religion that flies planes into buildings. A few very very radical islamic people did that. If you're grouping all islamic americans together with Al Qaeda and Osama Bin Laden you're a terrible ignorant racist. This country was built on freedom and that includes freedom of religion. If you don't like it too fucking bad. The only reason people are protesting this mosque is because people are ignorant and racist and associate peaceful islamic american citizens with terrorists. This is unfair they are just as american as we are and I'm sure the islamic americans who live in new york are just as sad and pissed about 9/11 as the rest of us if not more because not only do they have to deal with the death and tragedy but they have to deal with all the racist shit white people throw at them in the aftermath.

If you were part of a religion, lets say 1000 years ago, and you conquered a region you would next have to build a place of worship so you can worship your god(s).

I do not see this as the same as what they have done in the past because they did not conquer anything.

Not for any of the ignorant racist reasons the other 99.9999% people oppose it.  I simply don't want any structure bearing any religious significance built, anywhere, in the world.  America is a fine place to start.

I'm getting tired of everyone bringing up the Crusades. I mean come on they happened 700 to 900 years ago. I could see using it if people were claiming Islam is a violent religion over something they did nearly a thousand years ago, but that is not the case. The claim for that is over something that happened 9 years ago.

Right. This is the 21st century, and in as a developed a nation as the United States has become, I really see no place for building a monument of victory. Even if it wasn't the entire Islam peoples who committed the atrocity, they're still condoning it by putting up a mosque at ground zero. There are many, many mosques in NYC. I personally can't help but view this as a slap in the face to the the US, which in this day and age is pretty unnecessary, at least under these circumstances. Maybe not in the Crusades, but now it is. You just don't pull that kind of shit anymore. I think the people in America have to hop off the PC bandwagon for awhile...
