It just feels wrong to me... It's my personal opinion that I expressed and someone argued against me so I have continued to argue back. It's not like I'm physically worried about people's cars being stanced out, I just think it's a waste of money to buy a car which was intended to be good at one thing, and then try to make it do another.

99% of cars are intended to be good at DRIVING ON A FUCKING PAVED ROAD. Yes, this includes your beloved STI. Yes, this includes Forresters. I'm not a fan of dumping a car on cheap coils and maxing out the camber, but "stancing" a car has little to no effect on how any of these cars perform on regular, paved roads, which is where they will be used. Sure, the ride quality may suffer and you have to watch out for potholes and speed bumps, but seriously, if you think lowering an STI or a Forrester an inch or two is going to somehow change it from an extreme off-road vehicle (which neither of those cars are to begin with), to a non-functional car that can't drive, your head is so far up your ass that you may never see daylight again.

As far as the STI goes, you keep acting like changing the suspension is going to make it a worse car. I hate to break it to you, but the stock suspension isn't all that great. Yeah, the car can take a corner pretty well, but the stock springs practically sit on the bump stops and the compression settings on the stock struts are overly aggressive, leading to a far more bumpy/jolty ride than necessary. A good set of coilovers, or some new springs and struts can go a long way. My STI now has RCE springs, Bilstein struts, and ProDrive bump stops, and the ride and handing FAR surpass what it was when it was stock. Maybe you should read up on your own damn car before you start parading yourself around like a fucking idiot, talking about how your car will dominate rough terrain with the stock suspension. Sheesh.

I mean at least where I live, if you own a stanced car you have to avoid like 1/3 of the roads. I would call that a pretty big hit to any sort of practicality in owning a car.

I live in a state without toll roads and there are plenty of lowered cars that drive around with no problems. I have never seen potholes, cracked pavement, poorly fixed highway control joints, uneven expansion joints, etc as bad as I have in Michigan. Stop grasping at straws. You are entitled to your opinion on stanced cars, but please don't try and pass off anything you say as fact.

although 06/07 stis range from 19-30k up in vancouver/bc in general, and most of the ones for sale are all imports, as far as i have seen at least.

what's strange about the vancouver is the lack of subarus....you see them all over the place in portland/seattle but almost none in vancouver....could that be a reason why this car is so overpriced?

definitely why. there are so many vw/audis/bmw/mercedes/german cars... and if you go out to richmond... nothing but bmw/mercedes.

however, subarus are showing up a bit more, but there are so few subaru dealerships in vancouver which might be part of the issue

First of all it is physically impossible to lower a F550. Second of all you sound like a ignorant degenerate. Yeah Subaru's are intended to be all terrain cars.I guess you hate every grandma out their that buys a forester to. I bet that never sees dirt either. But I know it's hard to believe but people can do whatever they want to their cars. If you think it's stupid that's good for you, but you need to get out of this thread then. Some people just like the looks of subaru's stanced maybe they don't care if they are AWD or not. Personally i think it would be awesome if they made a RWD STi. The sooner you accept the fact that people can do whatever they want the easier your life is going to be. You need to stop complaining about stanced cars in a stanced car thread.
