Atkins diet is somewhat effective, we learned about it in nutrition class not too long ago. There are much much better diets out there. With the atkins diet, you cut out carbs but it does nothing for fat or cholesterol, so you can eat a burger with out the bun. Its pointless and isn't a recommended diet, it is just a fad. The Only real effective diet is to cut calories (I think its like...if you cut out 100 calories a day from your diet you will lost a pound every 10 days) and to exercise.
