Ok, you sold the fuck out, we know, you got some cool adds from ski companies, that was cool. Then you got obnoxious ones from the likes of AXE, Oakley and other MTV style companies. They were annoying, and made Tanner Hall look like a douchebag, but they were kinda relevant.
But Pop up adds are enough. What the fucking fuck? I can deal with the worthless google based adds asking for stuff I am pretty sure is not based on my searches, but pop up adds are going too far.
Get rid of them please.

I thought that the only reason I had pop ups all the time was because of some virus but I guess this makes sense now. If you have internet explorer you can use the pop up blocker to block certain sites though...

Pop ups are annoying as hell, which one are you seeing dude? Admins generally take those down...

Come on guys, you do realize that ads help keep NS alive right? I mean, suffering through a pop-up here and there (actually, I haven't gotten a pop-up from NS yet), and having a few banners show up isn't really that big of a deal, when you realize that these help keep this site (which you all spend hours upon hours on) alive. i'll admit, I do have Adblock plus on my browser, but the one place that I have it disabled it Newschoolers - the only ad I have blocked is those annoying tanner ads because they would always blast out annoying bits of audio whenever I accidentally scrolled over them.


Tl;dr: Ads help keep NS alive. So atleast turn your adblock/popup blocker off for NS.

I'm pretty sure this was hashed out years ago when the ads first started showing up. We all know about site revenue.

The pop ups are a different story, however; I don't care if an ad is ugly or garish or even lights up when I scroll over it, but when I get one of those stupid pop ups that scrolls down the screen with me? Those things piss me the fuck off.

Yeah I totally agree except ADS ARE THE ONLY REASON THAT NS CAN STILL EXIST! They make money for ns which is a BUISNESS, I don't get these pop ups and I probably would be pissed if I did, ads should exist wherever ns wants them too, but if they pop up and hold you back, that's bad... They should just be around things not on them!

Guys -

Pop up ads are 100% against policy here. We do everything in our power to not let them on the site, but due to some of the ad networks we use they do sneak through the cracks from time to time.

Best idea is if you can take a screen capture, and copy down the URL that the ad links to. That way if you give us that info, the pop up will be blocked permanently!

yet we still complain when we have to take two seconds to close a pop up ad.

ads that keep to their own are fine with me. but ads that start a fucking flash movie filling out part of my screen WITH AUDIO? Fuck right off. NS ads are fine and enjoyable most of the time, but fucking get over it. It's money for NS

Also, a lot of trojans and adware you pick up from other websites can be activated when you're just randomly browsing NS. Make sure to get a spyware remover tool, use it well.

Maybe (I haven't been around that long) but it sounds like some people just don't get it, so it doesn't hurt to repeat. But it sounds like NS admins know about these popups now and have it under control, so big ups to them!

You know what, I'm just happy that that god damn scrollover ad is gone.
The one for the insurance company that when you moused over it it would go big and have a god damn farm or some shit. So fucking annoying.

ummm just a question. i used to use safari on my pc but it recently freaked out and wont allow me to scroll up on pages anymore so i switched to chrome.

now that i use chrome, whenever im on NS and i click on a link, the link will open but so will another tab to a completely irrelevant site. 1. WHY?! 2. make it stop
